Notifications seem to only work for me when the FitBit app is either actively running or running in the background. As soon as I close the app, I don't get any notifications anymore. This is a bummer because lately the app started draining my battery a lot and I closed it out whenever possible.

What about for an iphone 5SE? can you advise - I just wasted over 2 hours with the support guys for them to finally check out that it was ios12 not the other tech that had the issue - and not further forward.
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks

Hi
Is there any update on this. I have just spent over 2 hours trying to resolve things to ultimately no solution.
I am extremely upset as I am currently heavily pregnant and have been missing crucial calls etc from medical staff amongst others as the notifications were lost when I had to get a new phone and upgraded to 12.01.
I understand this has been a persistent issue since september this year, it is now November is there any timeframe on when you will have a solve. Or is there any solution whereby some models are unaffected?
I currently have an alta and would really value some resolution as I near full term.
Thank you

I spent over 2 hours on the chat to try and resolve the issue, the agent was very helpful - but ultimately if they had checked the list of current issues (knowing already upfront which version of IOS I had) the time would not have been wasted.
I am extremely upset that I cannot receive notifications as I am heavily pregnant and have been missing calls from medical establishments as nothing is feeding thought my fitbit device.
I understand that this is an ongoing issue since September and am fearful it will not be resolved quickly which puts me under more stress at this delicate time.

I don't know how I did it, but (knock on wood...) I've been getting notifications today. I tried all the things listed here, but I think what made the difference was I changed my text notifications to permanent banners in my iPhone settings, and I've been leaving the FitBit app running in the background.
But, I never had a problem with most notifications. Just the text messages. So I only changed those settings for text notifications and all has been fine since.

After I updated to IOS 12 I cannot sync my Ionic and I am not receiving any notifications on my fitbit. I have tried all the recommended fixes with no luck. Hope this will be fixed soon.

Well, just kidding. It WAS working, but now I am getting text message notifications on my Versa when I pull down the notifications, but it is not vibrating. Works for other notifications, but not texts.
This is getting really obnoxious.

From my own experience with IOS 12.1 on a iPhone 8+ and iPhone X Max, getting Bluetooth working takes some determination. For the 8+, I ended up removing my Charge 2 and then proceeded to re-add it. Even though it worked the connection is not persistent . From time to time the Fitbit app is unable to sync, even though the Charge 2 shows connected under Blue Tooth and under Fitbit app. I have found out quickly by shutting down and restarting the phone appears to clear whatever state is inhibiting bi-directional Blue Tooth communications. This is a work around.
For the X Max, the iPhone could not even connect to the Charge 2. Toggling off Blue Tooth, restarting made no difference. I took a drastic step, I backed up my wife's old 4S iPhone via iTunes on my computer. I then restored those settings onto the X Max. I then removed my own Fitbit and took it down the hall (prevent multiple charge detection). I then attempted to pair my wife's Charge 2 (fully charged) with the Fitbit app. It took a long time, but suddenly a 4-digit code manifested on the screen. At that point I proceeded with setup. Now I will say the setup took a unusual long time, as in minutes. I decided I would just leave both devices on their respective chargers and see what happens. About 30 minutes later I wandered back and setup completed. The Fitbit was able to synch the X Max. This was a small victory.
With IOS 12.1, both iPhones lose Blue Tooth communication periodically, most often after you have been away from the phone for a couple hours. The work around of reboot seems to work. Getting your devices to connect and synch takes effort. Note, IOS 12.1 is using the latest Blue Tooth specification, which is likely the source of the interoperability challenges.
