Text messages still aren't coming through on my Fitbit since the last Fitbit update a couple days ago. I'm really trying to hang in there but this is SUPER FRUSTRATING!!!

Try going to Settings->Notifications->Messages
Once there make sure your Banner Style is set to Persistent (not temporary).

Apple IOS 12 upgraded the Blue Tooth protocol which is the mechanism by which your Fitbit communicates with the Fitbit app. I was able to get it running fairly quickly on my iPhone 8+, first I deleted my Fitbit charge 2 from the app. Then I rebooted and added it back to the app. It actually connected and proceeded through setup. That being said it does lose connection periodically and I reboot the phone to restore communication.
On a iPhone X this was a much bigger challenge. It simply would not connect let alone sync. I took the drastic measure of backing up the old phone via iTunes and then restoring that backup to iPhone X. Why? Because it copies the app settings that were known to work. Long story short, this worked but the customary connection and setup time was super long (like 20+ minutes). However it got the 4 digit code within a few minutes which was a positive sign, and the rest of the setup eventually completed. After that the app was working and syncing. Like the 8+ I have to reboot this phone on occasion as the connection does tend to go stale inexplicitly, i.e. you'll notice your Fitbit will suddenly not sync.
I have owned several FitBits and never had this problem until IOS 12. Fitbit has been reliable in my experience over the years. Like you I am looking forward to a permanent resolution.

These types of problems have persisted for almost a year now. Constant troubleshooting and waiting for issues to be resolved is becoming too tedious. I have switched to Apple Watch and things have been much, much smoother. Fitbit customer service has not demonstrated they are willing to put forth a good faith gesture to make things right after having purchased 3 Alta HRs which are all going through the same issues. This time being the longest at almost 2 months.

Is there an update on ‘notifications’ not working. I have downloaded the latest app from App Store (2.83) and this does not improve the problem on iphone

I have a Charge 2. I have done EVERYTHING mentioned in these comments...to no avail! My phone (iPhone 7SE - iOS 12.1) doesn’t even find my CH2 nor does my app find my Bluetooth and vise versa. Works great on my iPad but I need it more on my phone. I know you all are working on it but I just had to share my portion. I hope this gets resolved soon. Thanks!

Which Fitbit was this for?
I have a Blaze 2 and I have tried the listed steps and still not working.
I never thought I could miss my text messages on my Wrist so much, but it is super frustrating to have to look all the time, especially in a meeting where I can just slip a peak at the watch and not have to pull my pocket out.

What is firbit it’s going to do about this. I feel like returning mine requesting a refund if this feature doesn’t get rectified.

I’m getting close to giving up. I switched to iPhone as it was part of a deal when we switched carriers.
I dont blame Apple for not making it priority, they have a watch. I didn’t want to go that route but I might.
Ironically my wife has same Fitbit (blaze) and an iPhone X and doesn’t have this issue.
