In your fitbit settings, make sure Do Not Disturb and Sleep Mode are both turned Off.

Just adding to the info from Heather-M and mcw53 . Please make sure that on the notifications settings on your phone you have selected "Show Always' or similar. 

I also suggest you to have look at this: Why are notifications delayed or missing?
