Not longer able to manually log distance for Treadmill

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I'm encountering a problem when I log treadmill activity on the app - it doesn't allow me to input any more information other than time started, time stopped, and calories. Yet when I view it on my dashboard, it's populating steps and distance (none of which are correct, or editable) somehow. Previously, I was able to input distance and pace when manually logging treadmill exercise. I am not initiating my logging from my Ionic at all (because of how inaccurately this function works, so I stopped doing it that way and log it manually through the app when I'm done with my workout using the information on the treadmill itself), but I'm getting the same input and editing options as though I was still doing it that way. How can I get it to revert back so that I can input all the information? If I'm not inputting it all manually, the tracking is hugely inaccurate.

Hi @Celdere. It's nice to see you around.

Thanks for the information provided and it's strange that the distance cannot be entered in the Fitbit app. Have you made sure that the Fitbit app is updated? If so, may I know your phone's model and iOS version? In the meantime, I'd recommend the following steps:

  1. Log out from the Fitbit app and reboot your phone.
  2. Log back in to the Fitbit app.
  3. Tap the + icon > Track Exercise.
  4. Tap Log and search for Treadmill.
  5. The Fitbit app will allow you to enter the start time, duration, calories and distance. The pace will be automatically calculated.
  6. Tap add and it should appear in your activity history.

If the issue persists, provide me with a screenshot of the details that you're able to enter when logging your activity. For instructions to attach a picture in your reply, check this post.

Let me know how it goes.

Hi Lizzy,

Logging out and rebooting my phone did not help. I only have the ability to edit start time, duration, and calories. Screenshot here:IMG_6900.PNG

I'm running this on an iPhone 6 with software version 12.3.1.

Hi @Celdere. Welcome back to the Community, and I'm sorry for the delay in my response.

Thanks for trying the steps posted above, as well for the screenshot provided. I'm sorry that the distance isn't able to be edited in your activity. Our team often gets feedback from the Community to work on our products and services, be sure that this'll not go unnoticed. In the meantime, I'd recommend to manually log your activity in the online dashboard, where it'll allow you to enter your distance:

  1. Go to fitbit.com dashboard and log in to your Fitbit account.
  2. Click on "Log" at the top of the screen, and then on Activities.
  3. Click a common activity, or search for an exercise type.
  4. Enter the duration, start time, duration, distance and calories, as described below. Once you're done, click Log.

If you need anything else, let me know.

I’m having the same issue. If I manually log a run I can enter distance. If I choose treadmill, the only input fields are time started, duration and calories.

Hi @Ladiletta734. Welcome on board! I'm sorry for the delayed response.

Thanks for joining this thread and sharing that you're having a similar issue. The Fitbit app will allow you to log certain details depending on your exercise. This is the reason why you see distance for Run but not for Treadmill. That said, I'd recommend to log in to your fitbit.com dashboard and follow the steps described in my previous post so you can also log the distance recorded during your Treadmill activity.

Give it a try and keep me posted.
