Notification flag won't clear; no apparent message

I keep getting notification flags, but can't find any apparent messages.  I check every page on the app and online, but the flag won't clear.  I did log out, then log in.  Flag cleared temporarily, but then reappeared.  I've turned them off temporarily, but would like a fix fix if possible.
