Fitbit Update 5/22/2019:

Hey all,

Today we've released the latest Fitbit for iOS app version 2.94. In this new app version, we've temporarily disabled this notification "Open Fitbit to keep your data synchronized." We will continue to assess all the user feedback and work to improve this experience.

Please update the Fitbit app if you haven't yet. I'm now closing this thread from further comments. Thanks again for all your feedback!

Fitbit Update 5/13/2019:

Hi Everyone- Based on customer feedback, we are working on an update to the notification and hope to have further information to share soon. We appreciate your patience and thank you for your feedback.

Fitbit Update 4/18/2019:

I've merged a few threads together. Receiving the notification "Open Fitbit to keep your data synchronized" after closing out of the Fitbit app is expected behavior. The Fitbit app needs to run in the background in order to enable features like all-day sync and notifications. If you are double tapping the home button, or swiping up into multi-tasking, and then swiping to close the app, you should see this message.

I appreciate your feedback and have passed it on to the team. I hear that you are unhappy with this notification. Our team is aware, but may not be able to provide a fix in the immediate future.

We'll continue to monitor the situation, and keep our team informed of the impact to you and other customers. We understand that this isn't the resolution you're hoping for, but rest assured we're always working to improve our products. We're sorry for any trouble.

I was sent here advising this was a fix.  This is not a fix, it is an advisory that we can just live with it!!!  I found a fix, I can turn off the fitbit notifications from ios.  Of course this really limits the usefullness of the App!!!

Thank you for responding to user feedback - when will this issue be fixed? It doesn't make sense to receive a message like this every time you exit the app. Please fix ASAP

Re: The Fitbit app needs to run in the background in order to enable features like all-day sync and notifications.

I can see the purpose in this message if you all-day sync turned on, but not if it is off.

As for notifications - they seem to work just fine (phone call/text message/calendar alert) with the app turned off.

With the recent update--after a day or so of still showing the annoying notification--my app has stopped showing it.  Thanks. I think.

Please make the elimination of this notification or, at minimum, make it a user controlled notification, a priority.   It is beyond annoying and serves no purpose, in my opinion.  I’m one of your original customers who has owned multiple devices over the years but this “feature” has me on the verge of buying an 🍎 watch.  Please don’t make me do it!

They hear us. They just don’t care. Once they’ve lost s huge user base, I wonder who will get fired?

Spoiler
This painful irritating noise & flashing light will likey have me disconnect fitbit altogether. Fitbit already drains my battery +++. Unnecessary interruption.  I update when suits me using wifi I neither need nor want continuous connection.  Just roll the update back. Worse than useless. When I turn off the app I know it is not updating that's why I'm turning it off!

Hi all! Back from a 2-week vacation, thanks to Fitbit! 😂 The update won’t be rolled back. That’s been made clear. Get you an Apple Watch or Garmin and be done with it. My Fitbit hasn’t been (conveniently) tracking my HR for the past week. No likely coincidence. After being a customer for over 5 years, t’s really disheartening to see this is how this is being handled. Or ignored, rather. But, alas, it’s time to move on. Clearly. Wish you all luck in finding new devices!
