Fitbit Update 5/22/2019:
Hey all,
Today we've released the latest Fitbit for iOS app version 2.94. In this new app version, we've temporarily disabled this notification "Open Fitbit to keep your data synchronized." We will continue to assess all the user feedback and work to improve this experience.
Please update the Fitbit app if you haven't yet. I'm now closing this thread from further comments. Thanks again for all your feedback!
Fitbit Update 5/13/2019:
Hi Everyone- Based on customer feedback, we are working on an update to the notification and hope to have further information to share soon. We appreciate your patience and thank you for your feedback.
Fitbit Update 4/18/2019:
I've merged a few threads together. Receiving the notification "Open Fitbit to keep your data synchronized" after closing out of the Fitbit app is expected behavior. The Fitbit app needs to run in the background in order to enable features like all-day sync and notifications. If you are double tapping the home button, or swiping up into multi-tasking, and then swiping to close the app, you should see this message.
I appreciate your feedback and have passed it on to the team. I hear that you are unhappy with this notification. Our team is aware, but may not be able to provide a fix in the immediate future.
We'll continue to monitor the situation, and keep our team informed of the impact to you and other customers. We understand that this isn't the resolution you're hoping for, but rest assured we're always working to improve our products. We're sorry for any trouble.

Only the ones that go to your phone. You still get text messages on your Fitbit, I tested that to prove people like you wrong. 🙂 So I’m sure you will get every other notification on your Fitbit...just not your phone

Fitbit is not suddenly stealing your data.
An invisible background app can upload your data to the servers as much as a gui thats minimized.
So they've always been uploading your GPS and steps and things behind the scenes.
The msg board responses from the Fitbit helpdesk are just that. Pre-canned responses from the help desk. They arent developers. All they can do is ask their manager on what to say.
(Although they could say things like "wow, that is a crazy new bug. There's no ETA, but we'll be sure the developers know." instead of "there will be no fixes and you are all wrong.")
And of course, the app code can be fixed as easy as rolling back to the code from last year.
Give them a couple weeks to QA the new stuff (better 😉

The only notification I ever got on my phone from Fitbit, besides this one, was when my watch battery was getting low. I also get an email about it...so I really don’t know what notifications you guys are talking about..but my problem is fixed you can keep complaining..not my problem. 🤷🏼:female_sign:

I think most fitbit users are well aware of the fact you need to open the app once a few days to sync the data. I understand that the dev team wants this notification but it is very annoying for any veteran users. At least there should be an option to toggle this notification off.
Thanks to this notification I have disabled all notification from Fitbit on my iPhone. I might turn it back on in a few months to see if it was fixed if I still remember this issue.

Is this affecting all cell phones? I have an iphone xr and I'm getting the "location services limited" notifications constantly. My coworker has an iphone 8 and she is NOT receiving them.

New update requires app to be open at all times to sync data... I hate the new update. RIDICULOUS to have to keep the app open and moderator says no fix in future.... I may have to find a new device. FIX THIS ASAP!

Launch the app
turn on “all day sync”
quit app
re-launch app
turn off “ all day sync”
Quit app
that should do it
My guess is the last update set something in the prefs that indicated that “all day sync” was on even though it was not. Turning it on, quitting, relaunching, turning it off, and quitting again, resets the pref to the correct state.

@ben_ftb I just tried your suggestion, unfortunately it does not work.
Tried it three times and every time All Day sync was turned off like you said to do, the notification still popped up.
there seriously needs to be a fix from Fitbit because if I turn off all notifications from Fitbit then i miss everything from Fitbit, reminders, texts etc

This needs to be fixed immediately. Seems to be a whole lot of people complaining about it. Can’t be too hard to remove that bit of code from the app.

I can appreciate that you have communicated the issue to the "team". But we need an answer as to if this is going to be fixed or not. If not, or if it is going to take more than another week or so to fix, I'll be going away from Fitbit to another brand.
I do not wish to synchronize all day and I don't appreciate the notification every time I turn off the app.
With it taking so long to fix, I'm starting to thing there is an ulterior motive by Fitbit in keeping the app active. Data mining perhaps?

You did all 6 steps?
You quit the app at step 3 and 6, not just put it in the background?
> 1. Launch the app
> 2. turn on “all day sync”
> 3. quit app
> 4. re-launch app
> 5. turn off “all day sync”
> 6. Quit app
It happened to work for me.
I am truly sorry that it turns out not to be a working solution
Thank you for the feedback

@ben_ftb Yep.
I did 100% exactly as you said and it did not work for me.
I always fully quit my apps, never ever leave them in the background.
Unfortunately your solution did not work for me. I even tried it a 4th time today and nothing. I'm still receiving the notification.
