I function at work around timers with my iphone and would like to be able to have the ability to turn off my iphone timer from my watch. I also notice that my steps dont update as frequently on the watch unless i swipe down and then back up.

Welcome to the Community Forums @Mistacious! 🙂
Thanks a lot for your suggestion! At the moment, since this is not possible, I'd invite you to create your own suggestion on the Feature suggestions board. Hopefully other users will find this helpful and will vote for your suggestion and maybe we can have something like this implemented soon.
Now, about your steps not updating frequently, make sure that you've enabled the "All day sync" option on your tracker settings in the app. If this option is enabled, your tracker should sync every 15-30 minutes if the app is open or running in the background.
Anything else you may need, let me know!
