Recent update to charge 6 app user interface

I updated my iPhone app yesterday as it wasn’t syncing.  Expecting a technical update I now have a simply awful new user interface in the app.  It is so drab and difficult to read, it is truly the most uninspiring tracking dashboard, especially compared with the previous one that was visually appealing as well as functional. There is no improvement to the app either, except that the sleep score is harder to read. Why change it if there is no improvement?  And couldn’t there have been some consultation or a heads up that such a new look was coming and explain what the benefits (if any) are?  It’s just dreadful and I’m also feeling very stuck.   No competitor has the look of the Charge which is more appealing to me - even Pixrl 6 is round like Garmin with no options and Apple Watch is just too enormous.  I feel I’m stuck with Fitbit but with Google recalling it from sale in 28 countries already - I may need to jump ship sooner than later.  I just received my 10 year anniversary badge for what it’s worth - but this new and depressing app “update” and the overall direction of Fitbit doesn’t appear to be going in the direction I need - to make fitness and tracking an enjoyable part of my day, not to look like an Excel spreadsheet with a couple of icons.  So depressing.

I feel the same way about this “new” update. I’ve also checked out the reviews at App Store; and there are lots of users who feel the latest update is awful. Please return the App to its previous functionality when it comes to the Sleep area and GPS tracking for walks/runs. Many customers even mention leaving Fitbit product/App for Apple Watches.

Hello @dillydallan2 & @Lessaj

There isn't a way to return to the previous version of the Sleep data.

The change to the Sleep data is part of the Fitbit redesign that started rolling out last year. This 9to5 Google article (<-- click link) provides more information about Fitbit's future.

They have been changing things for months. I don’t think any of it is better. The article RiekoC points to says the changes are supposed to make things easier to understand. I thought it was pretty simple before they tinkered with things. They said there would be more data. I used to be able to get actual times on my total runs and on the splits. Now I just get round up to the nearest minutes and average pace information. I want the actual number I run each mile.

Since this subject is on the iOS Fitbit app, and not the charge 6 hardware, I've moved the thread to the iOS boards

Thanks so much for the link - appears it going in an extremely disappointing direction.  In your comment I think you sum up these changes perfectly with the word “arrogance.”   Arrogance in keeping on a design its customers do not like or want, arrogance in giving “insights” and taking away useful relevant data, and arrogance in not caring that the reason this is a business is because of its customers.

A kinda terrifying attitude actually given the power they have globally.  Yeah I know it’s just a tracker but the arrogance on display by Google with the Fitbit community is really not OK.

Thanks again for sharing.
