Required settings changed for notifications on iOS 13

This thread is for iOS customers on OS 13.3 who are unable to receive notifications. 

Before you can receive notifications from your phone on your Fitbit device, it’s important that you carefully review and update your notifications settings on your iPhone. 

The required settings changed with the introduction of iOS 13. Please make sure you follow all the instructions in the quick tip section here.

If you still are having issues, please review: 

• Make sure you've updated to iOS 13.3
• Turn OFF and then back ON Share System Notifications (toggle OFF and ON)
• Set Show Previews to Always or When Unlocked

Just out of curiosity, has anyone had a resolution to not receiving texts on your Fitbit since the 13 update months ago? I’ve done every suggestion for weeks now more than once and I can’t seem to get anywhere with Fitbit support except that the highest management is working on my request.

If you set the previews to “when unlocked” you will only see who sent you a message.

This was happening to both my wife and I. If you go to phone settings then to messages who can set the “show previews” to when unlocked you will then receive text messages on your FB. This fixed my wife’s, mine and a friends text message problem.

I used to get text notifications on my Fitbit now I only get phone calls. Where would the setting be for this? Settings I did find are already on.  I got a new phone and since then it has stopped......

I have done all of this and my FB only shows when I have a call.

When I first got my Versa 2 about a month ago, I was getting text notifications. Now I do not. I have tried to restart my phone and my watch. I reset the Bluetooth sharing settings and it still is not working. I have an iPhone 8.

I have updated to the new app but unfortunately my phone also update to the new iOS update 13.3.1 and now my notifications don’t work again. I have tried doing everything I did to get them working for the last update changing viewing of messages but still nothing. It’s really annoying please advise fix!!

@KateFitbit Do you know if this is going to be changed back to how it worked before in a future update?  One of the reasons for having the FB is to be able to read texts on the watch but not see the message on our phones lock screen .

I haven’t gotten anything fixed! I’ve tried every workaround multiple times, update every time there’s one available, and still nothing! If they need me to send back my FitBit and receive a new one then fine but it’s been months now! My boyfriends Versa works just fine!

I get notifications by using the following settings.

Settings>Notifications>Messages>Show Previews=Always, Alerts=Notification Center.  I chose Notification Center because I do not want my messages displayed on the lock screen (since he setting of never no longer works). 

Settings>Notifications>FitBit>Show Previews=Always, Alerts=Lock Screen.  I am not entirely sure this FibBit settings has anything to do with the messages but with it set as such I do get my messages on my FB Versa.

This worked for me! I can see texts on my FitBit now but It’s not vibrating! Anyone know how to fix this.

Make sure that you FitBit is connected to your phone using Bluetooth.  Also, there are time when I will get a text that does not vibrate on the watch, it is not frequent but I think it may be because the Bluetooth connection does not "see or catch" the incoming text.

I recently updated from the Fitbit Versa to the Versa Lite and I'm having trouble with the notifications. I have an IPhone XR and my old Fitbit never seemed to have these same problems. My Lite's exercise setting does just fine when I'm working out, my alarm buzzes when I set it, it gives me step reminders and if I pull down from the top I see all of my notifications, but it never buzzes or lights up when I get them. I've done some research to try and fix it. I repaired my device, I turned off all my notifications on both my phone and watch and I also made sure that the previews were set to "when unlocked" rather than never but none of these things seemed to solve my problem. What would be the best way to go about fixing this problem?

I can’t get incoming call alerts or messages to show up.  Have tried everything I have read and nothing.  Theoretically it should work.  HELP

None of this worked for me either. I updated my iPhone this morning as well. I’ve followed all trouble shooting instructions and still not getting texts to Fitbit. I get call notifications but not texts. I’m about to throw in the towel like everyone else and just get an Apple Watch.
