Required settings changed for notifications on iOS 13

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

This thread is for iOS customers on OS 13.3 who are unable to receive notifications.

Before you can receive notifications from your phone on your Fitbit device, it’s important that you carefully review and update your notifications settings on your iPhone.

The required settings changed with the introduction of iOS 13. Please make sure you follow all the instructions in the quick tip section here.

If you still are having issues, please review:

  • Make sure you've updated to iOS 13.3
  • Turn OFF and then back ON Share System Notifications (toggle OFF and ON)
  • Set Show Previews to Always or When Unlocked

Iv done all you posted and worked but when I go to the alerts, I don’t see Notification center. Just the typical always, when unlocked and Never. I don’t want the works of my text messages to show up on my locked screen. Any advice?

Set the message app to ‘when unlocked’ then you’ll only see the person who sent you a text, no words from the text will appear until you unlock your phone

I used to have the Versa and it was working perfectly for about a year. After an update for the iPhone, I stopped receiving my text messages through my Fitbit. I thought that maybe the problem was with the Fitbit and it did not bother me too much since I knew I would be getting the Versa 2. I thought for sure that with a new device, everything would be working. I was wrong. And it is absolutely frustrating! I did all the steps listed from the admin and from other peoples' own experiences, and still it does not work. I may just return the Versa 2 and go back to my old Versa since it obviously was working the same. If i get frustrated enough, I'll even go back to my old Apple watch. Really sad since I had always been such a huge Fitbit supporter.

I think I’m finally giving up on the Fitbit. Receiving messages from my iPhone to my Fitbit has always been intermittent, for the past 6 months it has been non existent. It doesn’t matter what I do I just can’t get my messages which is really frustrating so yesterday I went shopping for an Apple Watch. I’ve tried to avoid this because in Australia they cost $800 compared to $300 for the Versa but Versa doesn’t work

I bought the Inspire HR to replace my Alta HR bc the text notifications stopped working on my iphoneX. I have tried all of the recommended trouble shooting. Is this just not working any more or is there something else to try?

Since IOS 13 I get call notifications only. (Works perfectly on android phones e.g. Samsung)
I have scoured the help centre. Tried everything that everyone has suggested numerous numerous times, nothing and I mean nothing has worked for my Versa 2.
What happened in IOS that caused this problem? Whose responsibility is it to fix the issue Apple or Fitbit? Why after all this time is it still not working?  When can I expect this to be fixed? Must I dump Fitbit altogether and get an Apple Watch or dump Apple and go Android? Very very dismayed at this. Somebody please tell me something useful.

Factory reset on my Versa appears to have resolved the issue with my notifications. I checked all of the settings multiple times. Paired, unpaired, forgot the device. Over and over. Factory reset! I wonder why this was never a suggestion from Fitbit!

I've followed numerous threads about fellow users not getting text notifications working with their iOS devices. I've experienced this issue for MONTHS now and get no real answers from support (chat and phone). Fitbit team please resolve this problem for your customers!!

I get notifications by using the following settings.

Settings>Notifications>Messages>Show Previews=Always, Alerts=Notification Center. I chose Notification Center because I do not want my messages displayed on the lock screen (since he setting of never no longer works).

Settings>Notifications>FitBit>Show Previews=Always, Alerts=Lock Screen. I am not entirely sure this FibBit settings has anything to do with the messages but with it set as such I do get my messages on my FB Versa.

After this post someone informed me that the setting Show Previews= When Unlocked allows the alert on the watch but does not preview the message on the phone....this also worked. I now have it set this way so I can see on my phone lock screen when a text came in but it does not show the content of the text.

Regards,
Tracy

Hello, everything else on the Fitbit versa lite is working the only thing that’s not, is I’m not getting my messages to my watch? I’ve repaired it and everything. All notifications are on. But it just doesn’t show my message

Hi,

I got a new Fitbit for Christmas after my charge 2 was giving me sync and notification problems. Now, I’m having similar problems with the charge 3. I have tried everything for WEEKS. turning everything off and back on, deleting the app, changing the banner modes, restarting the fit bit, you name it, I’ve tried it. I really am at a loss for words at this point. My Fitbit receives call notifications (only AFTER I’ve accepted the call....like gee thanks for telling me I’m on a call, I didn’t know!) and it won’t receive iMessage notifications or anything. I don’t know what else to do.

The only way I can seem to get texts on my versa 2 is if I have my text messages set to Preview always or when unlocked.  I want to keep my preview set to Never and also have them come up on my Versa. Possible? Thanks!

Kate, is there any update as to when this will become more stable?  It has been a constant pain for over a month now.  Some days I get all notifications.  Some days I get calls but not texts.  Some days I get no notifications and the app acts like my Versa 2 isn't there.  I have reset, rebooted, disconnected, reconnected, powered on/off dozens of times now.  Most of the time it works temporarily, but days like today, the troubleshooting doesn't work at all.
