Should I get a new phone to keep up with updates?

Since i have ios 9, to get any Fitbit firmware updates will i have to get a whole new device in my case ,since you discontinued support for my iOS version?

I appreciate your participation in the Forums and for sharing your question with us. Please note that even when the latest versions of the app do not support iOS 9, if you have an old version installed on your phone, your device will still be able to receive firmware updates and you will be able to use the app to sync your Fitbit device or set up a new one. 

 

Please remember that if you uninstall the Fitbit app from your phone, you won't be able to install it back. Please note that we do not ask you to purchase a new phone, but keep in mind that with an older app version, it's possible that some features might not work as intended.

Will the calander app count as a firmware update? Im very axcipus to get the update

AND also is there any prodress being made on it?
