My sleep scores have tanked since time change. Last night had me awake two hours earlier than actual.

I frequently have this issue. For instance today it says that I slept from 12:39 am (correct) to 5:23 am, then 8:30 am to 9:23 am. I woke up to go to the bathroom around 6 but promptly fell back asleep until after 9. I fail to understand why my Versa 3 thinks I was awake for three hours. It tracks my sleep inaccurately about once per week, on average. I have called Fitbit about this before, but they were unable to fix the problem.

A warm welcome to the community @Jillysieg

Thank you for sharing the details about the situation with sleep.

Before considering other options, please keep in mind that there are some factors that may prevent your tracker from recording your sleep. When your body is completely at rest and you haven’t moved for about an hour, your device should record that you’re asleepPlease make sure of the following:

  • If you slept in a position that prevented your device from getting a consistent heart-rate reading or wore it too loosely. For best results, wear your device as described in this help article.
  • If you slept for less than 1 hour for sleep patterns or less than 3 hours for sleep stages.
  • If your device’s battery is critically low.

Please, try to restart the device following the steps listed here.

In addition, please wear your device on your non-dominant hand and monitor it for the next few days. In the meantime, for the nights that don't have sleep data, you can manually log your sleep by going to the Fitbit app and following the steps suggested here.

I got this Versa 4 in September. It was fine at first, then I started getting the gaps of 1-6 hours of missing sleep and heart rate data, which affects other stats. I’ve had Fitbits since 2018. I never had this problem before. I called tech and went through all the restarts etc. Still a problem. Other strings on the forum reporting the same problem.

I have done all these steps on many occasions and always wear my Versa 3 on my non-dominant hand. My Charge 3 tracked my sleep perfectly, but the Versa 3 gives me issues. I don’t think I will ever buy a Versa series Fitbit again. If I have to manually enter my sleep, then why wear it at night at all?

My Luxe did not log my sleep for the last 2 nights. I have made no changes to the way I sleep, wear the watch, the arm the watch is worn on, the band etc. I have tried all of the restarts (watch, phone, app). I also deleted and reinstalled the fitbit app. None of the provided tips helped.

@Jillysieg @Heytiffaniallen @WittyKat @Marlo2go There’s a new App update 4.04 available in the IOS App Store (not sure about Android ) perhaps it’ll help with the sleep score/ heart rate data data sync issues. I downloaded it today, I have had the same issues as you mentioned, so will see if it fixes it.

I just updated the iOS app to 4.04. It fixed the heart rate display.  Fingers crossed this fixes the nighttime gaps in sleep and heart rate data. I’ve been following the comments. I had a full night of data 4 nights ago, a night missing an hour, another full night, and was missing almost 2 hours this morning.
I also hope it fixes the Versa 4/app losing heart rate tracking during my runs. I don’t think my wrist has changed recently.

@Marlo2go  Same! Unfortunately the new App update didn’t make a difference to my sleep/heart rate data, what about you?

NO, the app update to 4.04 has NOT fixed the missing heart rate and sleep data problem. I had a full night of data 2 nights ago after the update but I’m missing data last night from about 1 to 7am.

Is the device tracking heart rate, but it’s not relayed to the app? See the attached pics. The Versa 4 has a tile with a graph of 2 hours of heart rate data. This shows data from 540 to 740am, but you can see the graph in the app is blank from 1 to 650am.  I have similar pics from other days.

So of course, all the scores I’m paying for with Premium are meaningless.

I have a case number from calling a week ago. May call back this weekend.

@Marlo2go  I have noticed the same. There are no gaps in heart rate data on my device, I also have a 2 hour tile display on my sense 2 and have checked this periodically overnight. In the same time period though there have been gaps in the heart rate display on the new App. When it (gap) occurs it’s always somewhere between 2am and 7am. Last night I got a full night of data though and it was accurate. Random.

Another night of worthless heart rate and sleep data (and the stats that rely on these), although I tried something new. I turned off the sleep schedule on the versa 4 and instead manually started sleep tracking at bedtime (1041pm) and stopped it on waking (710am). The manual tracking logged that period, but shows only blue bars instead of the detailed breakdown. AND I also have auto tracked sleep from 1044pm to 326am (also only blue bars), so Fitbit added the 2 to credit me incorrectly with just over 11 hrs of sleep.
And again, heart rate stopped tracking at the same time auto tracking of sleep stopped, even though the Versa 4 has the 2 hour graph of heart data during that gap.

Hi @Marlo2go  I don’t know if this had any bearing but recently I needed to put my IPhone in airplane mode for 20 hours while travelling. After I switched it back on and the Sense 2 bluetooth re ‘paired’ with the Iphone I did one night of full data. It made me wonder whether a ‘long’ blue tooth disconnect and reconnect had any positive impact. It may of course be completely coincidental as the nights I get full data since still seems random. Just sharing in case it helps any.

Is your device still tracking full nights of sleep and heart rate data? My app updated to 4.04 last week and my Versa 4 updated to 194.86 two nights ago. I had 4 nights of “full” sleep data, then one that stopped 2 hours short. One night had all the heart rate data while the others missed half hour to about 2 hours.
Last night I was looking at the tiles in my gallery and discovered that Sleep and Readiness had been uninstalled. No idea when or how. I reinstalled them and last night got complete data. A random event or a fix?

And maybe this was why I recently I stopped getting readiness scores even though I had more than 4 nights of sleep data.

Hi @Marlo2go   That’s very interesting, so I went to check my device too. I don’t seem to have any app’s missing. I am on software 184.52 which I think is the version before yours and v4.04 of the App. So far since installing v4.04 I have had one night where I had a gap in both sleep data and heart rate of around 3-4 hours. The one thing I’ve been doing differently since the latest gap is switching Bluetooth Off on my phone and putting my phone into Airplane mode overnight when I’m sleeping. In the morning when I switch back on and sync the App I have got full data each day. Like you say in your post though I’m also not sure if that’s also a possible ‘fix’ either or if it’s coincidence but I guess we’ll have to wait and see. I have fingers crossed though.

Sleep and heart rate gaps are still a problem.
Six days ago I got fed up with the frequent missing hours of nighttime sleep and heart rate tracking, despite the graph on the Versa 4 showing heart rate data for the missing time period. Also, exercise tracking from the watch shut off multiple times during running, walking, and yoga (noted elsewhere).

I closed the app, restarted my phone, reopened the app, forgot and added back my device. By the next morning , the battery had dropped from fully charged to 6%!

I called tech support, cited my  existing case on the sleep and heart data, and the new recent tracking and battery drain issues. I was walked through all the same steps plus a factory reset. I was told to give it 24hrs. I have phone app 4.04 and Versa software 194.86.

The battery is back to normal. Tracking for two walks, a run, and 2 yoga classes stayed on.

When I  had 3 nights of full sleep and heart rate tracking (only 1 hour missing), I thought all was resolved, but once again I have 2 nights with hours of missing data. Yesterday, it was from about 225am to 600am and today 410 to 710. Subsequently, I have lousy and inaccurate metrics that use these data.
Why does the app have gaps for these hours, while the watch shows a graph of heart rate data? Also, why does this happen only in those early morning hours?

@Marlo2gocompletely agree with you, why does it happen that the App misses data at roughly the same time stage overnight and yet the device is tracking everything without gaps? For me I can only get it to keep working if I disconnect from Bluetooth every night and re pair it every morning. I personally do think that Google Fitbit know what’s at issue here because so many people have mentioned the same problem. Although they haven’t chosen to reply directly perhaps there will be a fix in the next App update @ManuFitbit can you comment? And Fingers crossed 🤞

I hope Fitbit is working on it.
I haven’t tried your Bluetooth trick yet but instead closed the app at night. I got 2 of 2 nights of full sleep and heart rate. I’ll see if this workaround helps and wasn’t just random luck.
