Slow to sync with the Fitbit app

I have a Fitbit versa lite and a Fitbit zip that I use interchangeably, depending on the days. Both are connected to my Fitbit app, which has recently been updated on my iPhone 7. Each time I switch between one and the other I make sure to sync the data with the app. Every time I sync my versa lite, it takes me multiple sync attempts (3-5) to be able to update all the info (sleeping, exercise, etc..) both on the watch and on the app. The weather app especially, only updates if I have it open on the watch as I am syncing with the phone.

I have turned the watch on and off multiple times and it does not make a difference, it still requires multiple attempts to sync all the data.

My partner has a Fitbit zip connected to his iPhone 8 and he has a similar issue, in that the app is slow to update even from the limited info the Fitbit zip provides.

Hi @anasdm. Welcome to the Community Forums!

Thanks for letting me know that you have the Zip and Versa Lite, as well for the steps that you've tried prior posting. I'm sorry for the difficulties when trying to sync their data, and let's work on this together. There are some factors that may affect the way your Fitbit app will sync your details, for this reason please make sure the following conditions are met:

  • The software on your iPhone is up to date. To check, tap Settings > General > Software Update.
  • You have just one Fitbit device within 20 feet your phone when syncing.
  • To avoid any interference, turn off other Bluetooth connections when not in use.
  • If you use more than one mobile device to sync, make sure this other mobile device isn't nearby.

Once that is done, give a try to the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Remove your Versa Lite and Zip from the Bluetooth settings.
  2. Force quit the Fitbit app an reboot your phone.
  3. Take your Zip to another room, and place the Versa Lite next to your phone.
  4. Open the Fitbit app, tap the profile's icon > setup a new device.
  5. Choose the Versa Lite, tap on replace device and follow the onscreen instructions. If you're prompted, proceed to pair via Bluetooth.

If your Versa Lite is able to sync correctly, take it to another room, bring the Zip and repeat the steps 4 - 5 so it can be reconnected to the Fitbit account. If you get an error message, take a screenshot and attach it in your reply. You may also ask your partner to try the same steps with his Zip and iPhone 8 to see how it responds.

Keep me posted!
