Stationary Rowing seems to affect step count

I have a Concept 2 rowing machine and find that when I am wearing my fit bit  charge5(always) my step count is increased by it seems liike 2 steps for each rowing stroke. If My  steps are reported to another app like weight watchers they will be using qn inflated step count for their purposes, and if I report my rowing time i will have reported too much activity. Now, I realize that this pretty trivial but

I wonder  if   the erroneous step count can be fixed by a change in the app or reconciled by some formula manually. Rowing effort is usually reported in terms of time spent rowing.

Looking forward to a resolution

I understand your problem with weight watchers but doubt you will get any resolution here.  I sometimes do indoor rowing and do not report to any other sites.  The only place I look at my data is on fitbit.  I am glad to get any step credit I can out of my rowing workouts so would be upset if they prevented step count while rowing.  And they're certainly not going to start adding special options now like asking if want steps to count or not.

There's a similar case with outdoor bike riding that people have been complaining about for years that has never been addressed.  People often get some steps while biking from vibrations transmitted through their wrists; some complains about these and say steps should be turned off when biking.  Fitbit has not done anything about that when complaints have been coming in for years so doubt they will now for rowing.

But feel free to make your request known here:

Hope I didn't sound rude; certainly not my intent, just realistic.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

nope. I am just as happy to take credit for the steps and ignore the rowing time for now.

when it is t0my advantage,  if ever. I will just claim both.

I am also happy that someone else has seen this flaw in how the app works.
