Fitbit is not tracking steps. The step total drops about 3000 steps after I enter my walk time and minutes!

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @MAG-S.

I am sorry to hear your Fitbit device is not tracking steps. Thank you for sharing that your step total drops about 3000 steps after you enter your walk time. I understand how you are feeling and I am here to help. In order to investigate this, I would like to confirm you see your step count on the Fitbit device itself? If your step count doesn't change when you wear the device and walk, I recommend restarting your device: How do I restart my Fitbit device?

I also would like to confirm if you manually log your walk? Manually logged activities override your device's data. Sometimes customers report a decrease in steps and other stats after logging an activity, which can occur if what your device recorded was more than what you logged. For more information about logging activities manually, see How do I manually log exercises in the Fitbit app?

Additionally, I recommend checking if your Fitbit app is updated to the latest version as updates come with new features and bug fixes: How do I update the Fitbit app?

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

As @LiliyaFitbit stated, manually entering an exercise can trash your steps.

If you do not have a device that can initiate GPS assisted walks - you haven't stated what the device is, if any. I say "if any" because the FitBit app allows, or used to at least and I haven't used the function in eons, allow for your phone to be a tracker.

Have you tried to either start a walk on your iPhone using the FitBit app? Or set up the app to auto-recognize walks?
