We are aware of an issue preventing some users from receiving notifications on their iPhone after updating to iOS 13. If you're having trouble receiving notifications and you updated your iPhone or iPad to iOS 13, follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below:

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and watch this thread for new information. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while our team works to address this.

This did not work - both myself and a friend are still having issues and are not getting texts. Calls are coming through though.

I've tried all the steps and nothing has changed. My Versa but does not buzz or show me notifications when they actually come through but the notifications if I swipe down or push the shortcut button to view them. It is really annoying.

The message apps affected appear to be:

iMessage

Whatsapp

Facebook Messenger

I get notifications if someone calls me but nothing for any text based message. Tried bluetooth forgetting device etc, toggling settings on and off in the step by step settings but nothing works. iOS 13 was 12 days ago. I would really expect it to have been resolved by now.

Yup, I've tried that about 10 times and still no text notification on my Versa. I 'chatted' with the support team yesterday after trying everything and they basically said they don't know if or when they expect it to be fixed.

Did you try this "On iPhone go to settings - notifications - messages - show previews - when unlocked. You will start getting alerts after that on Fitbit."

This actually worked for me immediately after doing this. Hope it works for you.

Thanks! This worked for me!

Thanks Soyner but no joy for me unfortunately.

It is interesting to see how different devices seem to need different fixes or the same type of device has different workarounds/. What exactly had happened between the Fitbit app refresh and iOS13 debut to break everything so spectacularly. Fingers crossed for a fix soon.

I've only had the watch since December and amazing how quickly getting used to notifications on my wrist so I can respond quickly has been so useful and how frustrating that is is not working now.

No of the posted "recommendations" actually work.  I can tell you this is not only with fitbit, most non apple wearable are experiencing the same issue.  When can we expect a fix?  This has taken too long.

Try resetting your Versa Watch to factory setting. That worked for me. All the connection issues have been resolved.

I do not like to allow text message previews on my phone. Is there a way to keep that turned off and still get my notifications on my Fitbit like I have done until the iOS 13 update?

turn preview on when unlocked. It won’t show on iPhone but will still show on Fitbit

Just installed the newest update for my Versa today and my notifications are still not working. I’m at a complete loss. I’ve done everything to try to get it to work and it’s still not. Hoping that the problem has still not been addressed and that my Fitbit is not the problem.

Same here - and my Samsung S8 will not automatically update the FitBit updates which seem to be almost every week.  My heare rate does not work and I stopped getting my reminders to move.
