We are aware of an issue preventing some users from receiving notifications on their iPhone after updating to iOS 13. If you're having trouble receiving notifications and you updated your iPhone or iPad to iOS 13, follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below:
1. GET UP-TO-DATE
- Update the Fitbit app.
- Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.
2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS
- Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
- Tap the information icon
- Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
- Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
- Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
- Tap the information icon
- Turn on Share System Notifications.
3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS
- Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
- Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
- Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App | Settings |
---|---|
Calendar |
|
Messages |
|
Phone |
|
All other apps |
|
4. RESTART YOUR PHONE
For instructions, see the Apple help article.
If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and watch this thread for new information. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while our team works to address this.

Hi I just tried that work around and then did it a step further. I first did the always show, then only when unlocked, then I did never and it worked! Have to follow the steps correctly. To into settings and change it, then close settings, then a text message. Repeat with only when unlocked and then do it again and make sure you lock your phone. It worked for me.

Check out this users workaround for iPhone text messages. https://community.fitbit.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/16695979
I took this workaround one step further and moved my text previews to never and closed out the settings and locked my phone and had someone send me a text. It showed up on my Fitbit inspire

I have a different problem with notifications. The only issue I appear to have is when my iPhone 6S Plus phone rings. Once I answer the fitbit Blaze continues to vibrate. I must press the left button on the Blaze to make it stop, otherwise it seems to vibrate the entire call! Please fix!!

Anything New? I did what you asked and it is still not working with my HR. I try to go into Notifications in the fitbit app and it says i have to pair my phone. So i continue, then is says unable to pair. This is so frustrating. When will this be resolved?

I'm using the fitbit inspire hr and turning on showing previews for texts/messages still is not giving my fitbit a notification. All other features are on correctly and my fitbit will get notifications for phone calls. It's only texts/messages that are an issue. It's extremely frustrating since part of the reason why I use my fitbit is to notify me of texts when I have my phone away from me or on vibrate. Also as many others have said, turning on previews for texts/messages to get a notification on the fitbit is not ideal since I like my privacy (but again not an issue since my fitbit still isn't giving me any notification even with the previews being on always or when unlocked. I have tried both options and had people text me to test it out). I have also restarted my fitbit and made sure my app was up to date etc. Please fix asap

Have you made sure to close the settings app? I redid all those steps and right now my phone is set to only show text previews when my phone is unlocked. I am visiting with a family member and I keep haveing them send me random texts to make sure that even though it is set to only show when my phone is unlocked it will still show up on my Fitbit inspire when I get a text and my phone is locked and it does. Cause I work as a Sercurtiy guard and I keep my phone on silent at all times. I did reset my Fitbit and and forget my inspire and repair it to my phone before I found this work around. So it seems that you need to set text previews to always then close the settings app. Be sent a message and check that it shows on the Fitbit. Then go back into the settings and move it to only preview when unlocked and close out the settings app. And while your phone is unlocked be sent a message. Make sure it shows on Fitbit. Then when your phone is locked be sent another message it should also show up on Fitbit. That’s what I did and it is still working. That’s all I can suggest. Like I said I’ve been visiting since this morning and when I found the workaround it was almost 3 hours ago and it is still working.

I followed your directions and it works for the text messages. For my calendar notifications it will work but only if I leave it on always so thanks for your advice!

Setting preview to never under settings - notifications on your phone changes the preview setting on your fitbit app to preview never. "Preview never" means you can only read your messages at your message center on your phone and not any other place previewing before the message center.

My Charge 2 was no longer syncing
I have reset it and reset my Fitbit app (iPhone 7) and now it isn’t even showing in the Bluetooth list and I’m unable to log into the FitBit app!
can someone please let me know when this may be resolved!

Your steps to follow are extensive and I do not have those tech skills. My versa stopped showing my Fitbit steps, syncing to my NOOM program and is rendered useless to me for days ever since updating iPhone. When I try to update Fitbit it tells me Bluetooth is not on BUT IT IS AND SAYS MY FITBIT IS CONNECTED. This better get fixed and done for us soon or my days with FOTBIT are over!
