Stopped seeing notifications after updating to iOS 13

We are aware of an issue preventing some users from receiving notifications on their iPhone after updating to iOS 13. If you're having trouble receiving notifications and you updated your iPhone or iPad to iOS 13, follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below:

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and watch this thread for new information. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while our team works to address this.

I just received a new FitBit Charge 3 through the one year warranty after my other charge’s screen went all wonky. The very next day my iPhone updated to iOS 13 overnight without me realizing it. Now my ‘messages app’ won’t send as notifications to my Fitbit, yet the weather channel app which I turned on for notifications, will. I know everyone is complaining about the same thing, but many people purchase Fitbit for its health features, interface, and of course the ability to receive notifications to it, rather than having to keep a cell phone out (many careers do not permit cell phones to just sit out in the open). What’s the deal???? I saw this problem has been going on for months now??? And yes I tried all the suggested trouble shooting steps, still doesn’t work.

I have a flex 2 and since the latest ios update the fitbit won't sync with the app at all.  It says bluetooth is not available yet bluetooth is turned on as other devices are syncing.  What do I do??

We've refined the lead post of this thread to match the updated help article here. Please make sure you've followed all these steps in the order listed.

If this workaround still doesn't resolve things for you, don't worry - we're still working on a resolution. Thanks again for your patience while we work through this compatibility issue.

I have a Versa 1 and my message notifications were the only type of notifications not working on my watch after the iOS 13 update.

After I went into my iPhone's Settings > Notifications > Messages and selected Show Previews as "Always" (it was set to Never) they started working again. It also works if I select "When Unlocked".

I have always had my Show Previews setting on my phone set to "Never" for text messages and my Versa notifications used to work with this setting prior to the iOS update, so this is the only difference I can see now.

I got my Ionic and iPhone 8+ to play nicely with each other again, hurrays!

I removed the Fitbit app from my phone, and rebooted it. I also rebooted my tracker. Then I downloaded the app from the App Store and installed it. Then the app updated. Once the app was installed, the phone asked me if I wanted to pair the phone with the tracker and I said yes. After that, everything was fine? So maybe uninstalling the app and reinstalling it will work for others?  I hope so!

I did what you suggested about going into settings and making sure message notifications were on preview “always” and the whole thing is sorted now. I’m now getting phone calls to my Fitbit and messages.
Thank you

My app won’t even let me login now before I would log in through Facebook, now I’ve tried changing email password everything. I can log in through browser but not in the app says invalid email or password. I don’t want to make a new one and lose all my progress.

Didn’t work for me. Tried every workaround that I’ve read about and still no notifications. It’s going to the Fitbit because the notifications are there when I swipe down. This only happened after I updated to the new firmware. So annoyed.

So I went into the iPhone settings. Pressed the Fitbit icon in settings, and the Bluetooth was off. All I did was turn it back in and it worked! Remember to go to the settings on your phone. Scroll to your Fitbit, press and follow the prompts. Yay! Hope this works for you. I’ve tried all that other crap and nothing. Simple fix!

I didn’t have a choice with the update, it installed while I was asleep, now every morning it can’t find my ionic, it is on my Bluetooth, it’s just the app can’t find it

i have gone through all these procedures, removed the app, removed the ionic from bluetooth

but then it hasn’t recorded my slept patterns for 3 days

when in Fitbit going to get this so called update sorted ?

surely Fitbit check these updates before releasing them

my iPhone is updated, so I can only assume it’s the Fitbit update that is junk

I’ve tried all of the suggestions. Nothing has worked. Very frustrating!

It worked for me by restarting my fit bit and also restarting phone, I didn't have to remove any devices in my blue tooth.  So annoying when these I Phone updates mess with your life!
