We are aware of an issue preventing some users from receiving notifications on their iPhone after updating to iOS 13. If you're having trouble receiving notifications and you updated your iPhone or iPad to iOS 13, follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below:
1. GET UP-TO-DATE
- Update the Fitbit app.
- Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.
2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS
- Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
- Tap the information icon
- Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
- Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
- Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
- Tap the information icon
- Turn on Share System Notifications.
3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS
- Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
- Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
- Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App | Settings |
---|---|
Calendar |
|
Messages |
|
Phone |
|
All other apps |
|
4. RESTART YOUR PHONE
For instructions, see the Apple help article.
If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and watch this thread for new information. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while our team works to address this.

I’ve have done ALL of the troubleshooting..more than once. This is getting so frustrating. I can’t carry my phone with me while working but I need to see what texts and calls I’m getting. I’m about to get rid of my Fitbit Versa and get an Apple Watch.

Anyone know how to restore my Fitbit app to the previous version. This new update isn’t allowing any Fitbit device to be connected.

If your not receiving text messages on your Fitbit versa since doing the new iPhone update do what I did.Go into your notifications setting on your iPhone then into messages then were it shows preview messages set it to ‘when unlocked’.Once you have done that you will get your messages on your Fitbit without having to show text message preview on your iPhone

Thanks Suze. It works. However, I refuse to check this setting to “when unlocked” due to privacy reasons. I don’t want a private text message to just show up on the screen while I am showing a buddy a video, photo, or using GPS. Fitbit working properly shouldn’t be dependent upon this setting. It worked last week (before iOS 13) just fine without this setting. It should be restored.

OK, so none of this works . . . it is now 10/12/19 and my Charge 2 and Charge 3 do not connect via Bluetooth with my iPhone. They DO connect with my mini iPad. Frustrating to say the least. Any updates on when connectivity to iPhones will be established again??

Not getting sleep data after updating to OS 13 yesterday. I tried all recommended solutions and nothing worked. All other notifications appear to be working. I have a charge 2.

I did show all messages and it worked for some of my that messages. Now it’s not working again. I don’t like having the “show messages on” either. When is Fitbit going to comment on when and how this will be resolved???

It appears to be working as it should now. I don’t have to have message previews on anymore either.

Not mine, I still have to have previews on to receive messages on my watch, but even doing that is not 100%, I have to reset the watch every time I stop receiving messages...
I feel very frustrated with this situation, I was really happy with my Fitbit before all this started to happen. I truly hope they find a solution.

Yeah, it isn’t working for me either. You would think they would be on this since it’s been almost a month since the have known there was an issue. Must not be too concerned with losing customers...
