We are aware of an issue preventing some users from receiving notifications on their iPhone after updating to iOS 13. If you're having trouble receiving notifications and you updated your iPhone or iPad to iOS 13, follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below:

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and watch this thread for new information. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while our team works to address this.

I just updated to the IOS 13. Deeply disappointed. I lost the brightness and can't update. Lost my motion control so it doesn't turn on when I go to look at the watch. I've lost the notifications under settings all together. I already did a restart and it hasn't helped. Customer Service my only alternative is to factory restart which I REALLY don't want to do! I use all the fitness settings religiously and I don't want to have to rebuild my watch again. Apple here I come

Updated IOS 13.1.2. Notifications stopped. Tried ALL of the work arounds. None wrk. Second Ionic after the last one just fell apart. Talked myself out of an Apple Watch and other high price competition. Now regretting it. Until Fitbit makes a watch like Apple and Garmin, I’ll skip them.

I have the Charge 3 and my wife has the Versa 2. There was only one way for me to receive txt messages with the iOS13 updated. Both of us have the iPhone 8+.

Step 1: Turn off Bluetooth on your phone

Step 2: Delete the fitbit app. All of the data will save from your initial setup.

Step 3: Turn off your phone for 1 minute.

Step 4: Re-download the fitbit app.

Step 5 Turn on Bluetooth and login to the fitbit app

Step 6: Check to make sure:

*Setting - Notifications - Fitbit for "Allow Noticiations. "All alerts on" Options should have "Show Previous 'When Unlocked"

*Fitbit app - top left icon - select your device - notification - txt msg.

When I try to Refresh and Sync  on my iPhone 7+ with update to iOS 13.1.2,  it asks me to "Turn on Bluetooth to Allow "Fitbit" to Connect to Accessories"...Bluetooth is on and connected to my Fitbit ( I get notifications on the Fitbit with messages and calls)...it just won't update the data to the Ap.

I know you are working hard - good luck and keep us posted!

I am so frustrated. After the 13.1.2 update i receive no notifications on my Versa. I have removed the app, removed the device, restarted my Versa and turned my phone off. Reinstalled everything twice and still nothing.

I also have an iPhone 8+ and followed your steps. You’re lucky! I’m still not receiving text notifications. It’s so frustrating and this has been a problem for over a month now!

yes - a bit frustrating but hey! it's a little thing in the big scheme of
things, right?
Not to be rude (and sorry about the language) but this puts things in
perspective for me...I DO have to remind myself often!

My Fitbit Charge 3 works perfectly! BUT it will not update to the app for
record keeping...it has not done so since I updated to iOS13.1.2...seems
like an Apple problem! 🙂 I just write down the things I want to know (with
a pencil!) and figure it will all update when they get it fixed! Now - time
for football! Go Hawks!

Updated my iPhone 2 days ago. Everything seemed to work fine until I had to charge my blaze.  Once it was charged it wouldn’t sync and says Bluetooth isn’t connected! I’ve tried all the steps and nothing! 🤬🤬🤬🤬 maybe I shld switch time apple!

Have you made sure your Bluetooth share system notifications are switched on? To check this go into ‘settings’ then ‘Bluetooth’ then were is says ‘Versa’ tap the little ‘i’ in the circle next to were it says connected then make sure it switched on.

So I found two ways to get notifications on my Fitbit again after updating my xr to iOS 13. Neither is ideal but they will work for now.

The first, which I’ve seen here, is to set your phone in settings so it “always“ shows the message you received on your home screen- even when your phone is locked.

I really like the xr’s capability to not show messages until I look at it, so I didn’t want to do it this way. Going into the Fitbit app i was able to set it to notify me “Sender Only” for messages. So now my Fitbit will buzz when I get a text and display the name of the person sending it.

While neither way is ideal, hopefully they help until a better method is out.

Tried this.. didn’t help. Don’t get notifications and can’t control brightness. Right now my screen is almost black.
