We are aware of an issue preventing some users from receiving notifications on their iPhone after updating to iOS 13. If you're having trouble receiving notifications and you updated your iPhone or iPad to iOS 13, follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below:

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and watch this thread for new information. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while our team works to address this.

Done all of the above: still not getting WhatsApp messages through???? When is this going to fix? One of the main reasons I got this watch but seem to be having numerous issues with it constantly.

I haven’t had any calls or texts since the update, so not sure if that is working or not, but I’m being utterly plagued by notifications from my calendar.  I should get a notification the day before an event, but now I’m getting them constantly, the day before and the day itself - I think I’m getting around 10 an hour.  It’s driving me mad.  Am I the only one getting too many notifications?

Did customer service acknowledge that they were trying to fix the issue on their end? Did they indicate that a factory reset would actually work?

It’s my understanding that a factory reset won’t work with this issue. As it’s a problem between the new iOS and the Fitbit software/app.

I also turned on preview and did the following and it got resolved!:

1. restarted my phone

2. turned off and turned on bluetooth in settings

3. in the Fitbit app, clicked on the my face on the top left to go to Account, clicked on my device (I have a charge 3), then Notifications, and turned off and back on the Calls, Text Messages, and Calendar Events.

Now it works!

Are you talking to Fitbit or the users? As a user, I have to give up unless I can write my own software, I’m sick of my watch starting to vibrate when somebody answers the phone

or when somebody phoned me, my watch vibrates - and carries on vibrating until I mash all of the buttons.
ive stopped wearing it. It’s a joke

On iPhone go to settings - notifications - messages - show previews - when unlocked. You will start getting alerts after that on Fitbit but only see the message on your phone when you unlock it. I have iPhone 11 Max on newest update with a Alta and it’s working fine this way until they fix it

I did everything the website suggested, nothing helped. I even told my Bluetooth to forget this device. That really messed it up. Gave it to God, came back about three hours later went to the Fitbit app. Reconnected Bluetooth. About 15 minutes later for some reason on its own it started working again. Thank you Jesus!

Has anyone actually got their text message notifications to turn back on? I have tried every troubleshooting step they recommended and still nothing.

I have tried this solution and it does NOT work for messages.  I still get notifications to my FitBit Ionic for Calendar, Phone, Life 360, Poshmark (even with it set to NO Alerts on LockScreen) but I do not get notifications to my Ionic for text messages.  And the resolution cannot be that you have to allow previews for messages...there are just some things (work or personal) that people want or need to keep private and can't have "previews" showing up on their phone screen around other people.  Fitbit please expedite a solution to this problem.  I love my Fitbit Ionic but I have a very busy life, which includes 4 children, and having my Ionic notify me when they are messaging me is a tremendous help to me and my children maintaining timely contact with each other!

From someone who’s spent hours on the phone with technical support, the answer is no. They don’t think it’s “fair” to tell us when it might be fixed in case it doesn’t work. But, they also refuse to say what will happen to those of us with now malfunctioning devices if the fixes they won’t confirm don't work. Really, it’s a masters class in how to be horrible to your customers. It’s predatory behavior.
