We are aware of an issue preventing some users from receiving notifications on their iPhone after updating to iOS 13. If you're having trouble receiving notifications and you updated your iPhone or iPad to iOS 13, follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below:

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and watch this thread for new information. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while our team works to address this.

Make sure notifications are turned on on your Fitbit. Somewhere along the way of trying to figure out the solution to this issue, I must’ve pressed the button on the side and turned notifications off. Once I turned it back on, all was good again. Major duh moment but glad it’s working again

When is this issue likely to be fixed?  I got this Fitbit specifically because it’s the only one that’s waterproof and receives texts and calls.  I’m a swimming teacher, so this is the only way I can keep in touch whilst in the pool.  It’s frustrating enough that the Charge can’t send quick reply messages back if you have an iPhone, now the actual functionality I purchased the Fitbit for doesn’t work - I’ve tried every single tip you’ve suggested, nothing works.  If this issue isn’t resolved very quickly I’ll need to purchase an Apple Watch.  Will you provide refunds now to people if they want to return their Fitbit in view of the fact they’re not working to the advertised spec?

How much longer until it starts working again? It’s been weeks since I received notifications on my phone - kinda sucks

I am very frustrated with this Fitbit device Versa. Not only is it NOT giving me notifications, I DO get them for phone calls. What’s up with that????
Also, I am sick of trying to synch it and it says device not found.
What are you all doing to fix the problem??!!!
I’m ready to throw away and go to Apple!

Hi there,

I have followed all of these instructions and even went to the length of unpairing and repairing my device. However, my Fitbit Inspire HR is still not receiving my text message notifications. Everything is turned on, and yet these notifications are still not coming through?

What do I do know? On the verge of a tech meltdown about it, as I have been trying to fix this for days now.

Please & Thank you.

It worked for me but I do not want anyone to see my messages. Is there a better solution.

That's what I'm hoping for to. I don't think it's a solution to have us turn on Show Previews in order for us to see our text notifications. I spoke with someone in Support last week and she couldn't offer me anything different than to just turn on Show Previews. Super frustrating. It would be great if Fitbit would work on this.

You can set it to show preview “when unlocked.” At least that way it won’t show unless you’re looking at the phone or otherwise unlock it.

But I don’t want it to ever display my texts without me physically opening the text.

I understand that. I was just giving a work around that’s a little bit better than having them always show until they’re able to fix it.
