We are aware of an issue preventing some users from receiving notifications on their iPhone after updating to iOS 13. If you're having trouble receiving notifications and you updated your iPhone or iPad to iOS 13, follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below:

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and watch this thread for new information. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while our team works to address this.

My Versa Lite has been trying to update for 2 days. I have an iPhone X.
I reset the versa, reset the phone, forgot the Bluetooth device, plugged in to my computer and tried to update from there. None of this is working and I’ve tried every one of these things several times as well as placing the device and my phone closer to the router. What next?

The good news is that my phone was finally able to find my device. Success came after many restarts and reinstalls. The bad news is that I am not getting notifications. Eh, I can live with that.

I was wondering the same thing, except that MAYBE the Google team will finally fix this issue that FitBit hasn't bothered to fix in the past 18-24 months. I'm so over FitBit, and watching for a holiday sale on an Apple Watch.  😞

After the updates I started receiving notifications again for everything except text messages. The only thing that worked is I HAD to change my text message preview settings on my iPhone. I would prefer to not have on any previews and that worked with the Fitbit (Versa specifically)/iPhone pairing before the latest update. Is that something that will be fixed/changed back moving forward?

I will temporarily use my Hua Wei android phone till Google or Apple fixed this frustrating problem non-compatibility, of not able to read device affecting the recording of steps, heart rate etc..My clock face was changed automatically in my Ionic and then the recording of steps and heart rates crashed!

Glad I still have Hua Wei to depend on for this purpose!

This is becoming a joke. When will this be fixed. None of your solutions work!

This has nothing to do with the maker of your phone. It’s Fitbit they’re too lazy to fix the issue it’s now been a month. I’m so glad I switched to an Apple Watch no issues since my last iOS update at all and I’m getting all my notifications on my Apple watch. That’s how I know it’s not Apple or androids fault it’s Fitbit.

Hi there - I went through your troubleshooting steps, which did end up fixing the issue (iMessage/text notifications not sending through to FitBit); however I was just curious if there will be a work around in selecting notifications iMessage previews to "Always" or "When unlocked?". Prior to the update Previews did not need to be checked on, so I'm curious if someone is looking into amending that?

Thanks in advance!

Why give us all these steps if they don't work? I've tried them numerous times with no success. My Surge has no problems but the Ionic is forever dead on messages and incoming calls. I like to silence my phone and wait for the wrist vibration, but that isn't happening. It's obvious there is more to this that hasn't been figured out yet. From everything I'm reading the problem is not solved.

Maybe never, sad to say. When I started having this issue, I looked back and there have been complaints about this going back about a year, irrespective of updates. Maybe Google will get the solution.

I don’t think they’ll replace it for that reason like if you say I’m not getting text notifications and that you have warranty they might not accept that as a way of sending you a new one
