We are aware of an issue preventing some users from receiving notifications on their iPhone after updating to iOS 13. If you're having trouble receiving notifications and you updated your iPhone or iPad to iOS 13, follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below:

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and watch this thread for new information. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while our team works to address this.

@Wisegirl3  the forums are moderated and Fitbit is aware that there is a problem. When they replace a device, it's due to a hardware issue on the Fitbit. Not sure your phone not being unable to get notifications to your device is considered a reason to replace it. Have you checked to see if your phone is on the compatible list?

I think it's both of their faults. Something happened with the updates that is not making everything compatible. Sometimes I feel it is Apple so they get everyone mad enough and have to buy Apple products.

Hi everyone, thank you for your inputs, tips and comments.  If you haven't done so please update the Fitbit app, we just released v3.9.1 for iOS.  Also keep in mind that Apple also released the iOS 13.2 for their devices. Keep in mind to keep all the devices and apps up to date, and to perform the steps advised by MatthewFitbit .

@Odyssey13 , thank you for your comment and explanation.

If someone is wondering if you'll receive a replacement, you can always check our Warranty Guidelines or contact Support . They'll be more than glad to check if your situation applies for a replacement, most likely not, if the only difficulty you are having is receiving notifications with iOS 13+.

As Odyssey13 stated, we are aware that the steps provided haven't solved this issue for everyone, but it has helped a lot of users. Our Team is already working on a long term solution.

I'll ask you for a bit more patience, as I can see where your doubts come from!

@KataTjuta , could you  be more specific on the steps you have done, so that other members can try them out?  We all would appreciate it.

Please let me know if you have further question.

Both fitbit & IOs are up date. Phone is an IPhone 8.
I think issue started prior the iOS update.
Took a while before I realized I wasn’t receiving notifications
I have also had to hard start my Fitbit twice as it was unresponsive & screen remained black. My Fitbit will not go to all day sync with my phone or IPad.
How would I know whether it is the Fitbit that is defective or a technology issue?
Thanks for responding

Do you know when this issue is going to be fixed? I have to leave my phone in my purse while at work and this text notification is what I depend on for my messages.  I just purchased the Versa in August. I have done everything this thread says numerous times and it is still not working.

I followed the directions to fix the lack of notification problem. It worked, but I don’t want to ever allow previews of my messages. Is this something that is going to be fixed? Or is allowing previews the only way I’ll be able to receive message notifications? This is important to know because I need a new watch and I will not be purchasing another FitBit if I can’t be guaranteed this will be fixed. (And I love FitBit; I’m on my 4th device, so I really don’t want to have to switch brands).

Setting message notifications to "Show Previews --> When unlocked" solved the issue on my Ionic.  It's not ideal, but at least now I can resume getting text alerts from my iPhone Xs.

I haven’t yet. It is beyond frustrating. The text alerts was one of the main reasons I bought the versa. Epic fail now.

I think it's silly that I have to have my preview set to always or when unlocked in my text notifications, in order to get it on my watch.  I never had to have that turned on with my previous FitBit.  I don't need/want a preview of the conversation to pop up on my phone.  Just the names of the people included in the text is what I want.

I think we can all agree FitBit having a new issue every week is super played out.

I guess I am a little behind with my iOS updates, but I just recently updated and as soon as I did, my text notifications on my Versa stopped.  My calls, WhatsApp messages, and calendar reminders, still work, but not my text messages.  I have tried all the steps, listed below, but still, nothing 😞  My Versa has been performing this way for about 3 weeks now.  I'm not sure if this is part of it, but about the same time that I updated my iPhone software, I also updated my Fitbit software.

Is anyone else experience this type of issue?

I have an 8 Plus with a Versa. Cannot get text notifications on my Versa since iOS13 update. Contacted Fitbit customer service on 11/2 and they said someone would get back to me. Still waiting! Getting very impatient.
