We are aware of an issue preventing some users from receiving notifications on their iPhone after updating to iOS 13. If you're having trouble receiving notifications and you updated your iPhone or iPad to iOS 13, follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below:

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and watch this thread for new information. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while our team works to address this.

Fitbit needs to figure this out soon because I’m about to become and Apple watch owner. I got the Versa so I could check text messages on my watch without having to pull my phone out. It’s bad enough they haven’t figured out how to allow Apple users to have quick replies. #notasatisfiedcustomer

Yea. I’m about to jump ship to an Apple Watch. It’s been 3 months since I’ve been able to read a text on my Versa. 🤬

did you see the post from the guy that said to check the notification
setting under the Messages app? I checked that, and it was set to
"never." I changed it to "when unlocked" and I am now getting text
notifications. I wonder if the iOS update changed this to the "never."

IDK, just happy its working now!!!

I have tried everything that they say to do to fix the issue about not receiving notifications and I still do not receive any. 2 months and the issue is still not fixed this is very disappointing because the fit bit was supposed to help with me being able to know about having a text messages at all time’s since my phone is always on vibrate. I may have to purchase a different type of fitness watch since I upgrade my fit bit and then something goes wrong, I’m beginning to think that they do this so you’ll go out a purchase a new one everytime.

I had to “reset” my iPhone, now everything works! BUT, it will take your phone back to factory settings, however you won’t lose any data. You have to redo the thumbprint recognition so make sure you save your passwords somewhere!

I bought a whole new phone and it still isn’t working.

@Jblueline  Which thing worked?

Best Answer
  • For iPhone, got to Settings > Notifications > Messages > where it  says “Show Preview” chose “Always” or “When Unlocked”. That should work.

I have a Versa and I’ve had the exact same issue! I don’t think that it’s a coincidence that it happened the same week that the new Versa came out.

I’ve tried everything but resetting my iPhone, which I shouldn’t have to do for my Fitbit to receive notifications. Nothing has worked. So disappointed in Fitbit.
