We are aware of an issue preventing some users from receiving notifications on their iPhone after updating to iOS 13. If you're having trouble receiving notifications and you updated your iPhone or iPad to iOS 13, follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below:

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and watch this thread for new information. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while our team works to address this.

I have tried everything to get messages to show on my versa watch. I have tried multiple times. I cannot believe Fitbit can’t figure this crap out!! We pay a lot of money for your products for them to not work. I knew I should have stuck with Apple and not go with Fitbit. Shame on me. But shame on Fitbit for screwing over their customers providing no help and taking our money for no return to Customers.

Totally agree with you. You said it well. And Shame on me too for not getting an Apple Watch. I was told by many and didn’t listen. Definitely on my Christmas list. Don’t think it’s even worth giving to the Grandkids to play with.

I agree 100%, I have called and chatted about 6 times. The last time I asked how would we know when you have this fixed and the rep said I would need to call back. I was like nope, I don’t care anymore I am just going to buy the Apple Watch I should have purchased before I bought another Fitbit and waisted my money. They don’t seem to care at all, my husband has the same Fitbit and same phone - his works fine. The reason they indicated his might work is because he followed the correct instructions on their website and I probably had the wrong ones... I hung up the phone. I will NEVER buy another Fitbit. I’m definitely getting my Apple Watch!!!

What is that status on this? I just bought my Fitbit versa 2 today and am having the same issue. I am going to return it if I cannot get notifications. That’s part of the reason why I chose a smart watch.

I suggest returning it. I have waited over a month for them to fix the issue and they cant tell me anything except it still isn’t working for some people.

I bought it in May. They won’t take it back so I’m screwed.

The problem with notifications is not new with iOS 13, there have been issues with this for over a year. We mess around and waste time on the forums complaining about it, and FitBit makes the same suggestions. Oddly enough sometimes the "fixes" work for a couple weeks then reverts to the same issues. Maybe they want to go out of business and just drive all the fitbit users to Apple.

They just sold out to Google, so... The answer might be right there.

I have nothing to really add, just wanted to add my voice to the lack of notifications.  I’ve tried everything suggested and still don’t receive them.

since updating mine has also stopped tracking sleep & I cannot even find it on my app.

I was about to upgrade to a Versa 2, but now I’m wondering if I should just save for an Apple Watch instead

Still a month after the Apple update I’m not receiving text messages on my Versa like I used too. I’ve tried all the help articles and troubleshooting steps, still nothing! When are they going to fix this, it’s ridiculous!!!!!

I have done all of the steps suggested and still am not receiving text notifications.
I do receive phone notifications and now have a “new” feature... it shows when I have an “active call” ... i didn’t have this prior to the iOS 13.2.2 update

I installed the ios13 and lost all notifications to my Alta- but NOW- I plugged it in to charge and it drained the battery and is stuck on the battery icon and NOW I can’t even sign into the Fitbit app to see if I can do anything on there.
My Alta is completely useless at this point!

Finally fixed my notifications. Yesterday did all troubleshooting suggestions and still did not receive notifications. Today for some reason went back into settings, scrolled to Left Button, scrolled to Notifications and then held left button in to set notifications. I don’t why this didn’t work before but am now receiving notifications. I own a Versa.

Can you tell me what your fix was? I don’t want to have to restore my phone back to factory settings.

on iPhone, it was to settings > notification > messages > show previews >
set to "when unlocked"

it does show the preview when you pick up your phone if you have facial
recognition to unlock it...Otherwise, its not seen right off the bat.

Some people mentioned they didn't like this fix because other people could
see the previews, but only if they're standing right next to you when you
pick it up.

It's been months since my Fitbit has worked properly with the text and call notifications. This is so frustrating, do you have an update on when we can expect this issue to be resolved? Seriously considering going to the Apple watch like everyone else I know!
