We are aware of an issue preventing some users from receiving notifications on their iPhone after updating to iOS 13. If you're having trouble receiving notifications and you updated your iPhone or iPad to iOS 13, follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below:

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and watch this thread for new information. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while our team works to address this.

I know i'm new to the forums, but isn't standard customer service rules like 2-3 days  for a response?

The last time @KateFitbit and her team posted about the notification issue in this thread was on 9/24/19.

The last time the initial post by @MatthewFitbit  was edited was on 10/10/19.

Did fitbit give up on this issue? Whats been going on for the last month and a half?   No explanation on if the app update 3.10 was intended to try and fix the issue

Google bought them and they stop

caring!

That's probably why they are pushing the versa 2. That one has Amazon Alexa built-in.  Need to clear those out and make room for google assistant.

Now its starting to make sense why @KateFitbit  and her team didn't make the necessary changes to the iphone app prior to the release of iOS 13.  They had 3 months to play around with the iOS 13 beta.  I wonder where Google sent them on vacation.

I have tried all the "fixes" and still get nothing.  looking for apple I think now

no warning message until I started researching and saw the message.  I am getting tired of all the e-mails wanting me to buy fitbit also.

My fitbit was working fine after I installed the latest IOS update about a week ago, and then tonight I found it was not syncing.  Nothing I tried worked, so I turned off my phone and and after a couple of minutes I turned it back on.  It's now syncing again.

Go for it. I bought an Apple Watch a month ago because I gave up on Fitbit and I just use it as my night Watch at bedtime. Apple is so much better no issues at all

I am a new Fitbit Versa Lite user and also unable to get notifications.  I have attempted your suggested fix but am unable to complete the steps.  My Fitbit will pair with my iPhone 8 (IOS 13.2.3) but there is no information icon next to the name of the Fitbit once it is paired - it just shows "connected" - the information icon appears only next to an "unconnected" device.  Also I am unable to find a "Share System Notifications" option.    I have restarted and synced several times with no success.  Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Agreed. I am so frustrated with Fitbit that they haven’t figured this out yet. One of the reasons I purchased a Fitbit was so that I could receive text messages while working out. I’m about to sell it and purchase another non-Fitbit product.

Planning that myself

About to get an Apple Watch if this problem isn’t fixed soon

Since they were bought out by Google I think Fitbit is waiting to see what happens next. I don’t think there will be a solution till then. At this point I think it’s Googles problem

I was finally able to get my messages!

I did Settings> Notifications> Messages and that is where I changed the previews for the notifications - show preview when unlocked

seems to be working so far. But all in all this has been so freaking annoying. I wish they would fix this. I love my watch but really considering an Apple Watch

Are there any plans by Fitbit to bring back text notifications without having message previews visible from the phone?

Fitbit Customer Service: It has now been months since you've known about this problem -- and there has been no movement on the issue. No timeline. No updates. No "We are so sorry... we thought we had the issue addressed, but no luck."

Asking people to return to factory settings on their phones is unacceptable. Asking them to run through steps that you know do not fully work multiple times is unacceptable. Failing to give any sort of update is unacceptable.

I have been a loyal Fitbit customer for years -- I used to recommend Fitbit devices to everyone I knew. That is no longer the case. I have switched to a Letscom device, which seems to be working really well for so much less money than a Fitbit or an Apple Watch. So now, I will be recommending Letscom to everyone I know... starting with this forum.

Folks who are following this thread... my Letscom delivers messages and phone calls and tracks my steps. I can even do a quick heartrate right from the device. The only piece that doesn't really stack up against my Fitbit Alta is the sleep monitor -- but that didn't really matter to me anyway. Best of all, my Letscom device was under $30 -- which I gladly paid to be able to receive messages and alerts again while my phone is silenced.

So long, Fitbit!

I called customer support and went through all the steps that the guy asked me to do... funny not once at the beginning of the call did he mention that they have had many complaints or that anyone was working on it.
It wasn’t until I brought it up that he “shared” information that they are aware and working on a solution.
After trying everything that he said (which was everything I had already attempted through reading this thread) I was still unable to receive texts.
he then said to wait a few days and hopefully it would be back up but gave me a case # for my reference. Gee thanks ...

I now have show previews set in my phone (which I don’t like) but am getting text alerts again although they don’t show on the Fitbit when I raise my wrist. I only feel the vibration and then have to press the button to see who it is and sometimes that doesn’t work either.

Black Friday Apple Watch deals are looking pretty good right now

I have once again followed all of the recommended steps, and am STILL not receiving notifications on my device.

This is utterly disgraceful - I would recommend any other UK based users to now start reporting this to Trading Standards or BBC's Watchdog programme, because Fitbit are clearly not going to do anything to resolve the issue, and they are continuing to ignore our concerns and complaints.
