We are aware of an issue preventing some users from receiving notifications on their iPhone after updating to iOS 13. If you're having trouble receiving notifications and you updated your iPhone or iPad to iOS 13, follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below:

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and watch this thread for new information. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while our team works to address this.

Thanks for sharing this.  Kind of odd, I get notifications on phone calls just not text messages.  Tried everything and no dice.  Not really sweating it as I’m sure you guys are working on, just figured I’d share.

This was super helpful! Thank you for taking the time to put this together. I had wondered if the new IOS update had something to do with the change in vibrations but had no idea where to start to find the answer. Turns out the "Show Previews" setting under "Phone" was clicked to never. Now that it's set back to the default it's vibrating again when I get texts and calls.

A week ago, before the update, my Versa Lite would not notify me of calls or texts. I tried everything and then  let  the battery die and re paired with my phone which allowed it to work again. I was worried about the iOS13 update that came a few days later.  I discovered that if chose FORGET THIS DEVICE under bluetooth on my phone settings  and then went to the fitbit App - followed prompts - my versa lite works great notifying me.  This is the process I follow and my settings

On Phone go to:  Settings

                            Bluetooth

i to right of your fitbit device

Forget this device, repeat until off of Bluetooth list

Go to Fitbit App:  It will prompt you to pair with blue tooth

                            follow prompts settings

                            allow

Go to Phone: settings

                      Bluetooth

i to right of fitbit device

Share System Notifications should be on - green Share Systems Notifications is not there                           before update

Go to Phone:  settings

                        Notifications

                        Show Previews

                        Set to Always

Go to Fitbit app under phone settings, notifications

                                   Allow Notifications

Alerts - Press phone icon - Lock Screen, Notification Center, Banners

                                    Sounds and Badges on

                                    Show Previews Always (Default)

                                    Notification Grouping .  By App

Lady, we’re not talking about getting notifications on our phones. We’re talking about our watches... 🙄

Yeah I saw the message that they are working on it but looks like some people are having success with the solution posted in this thread. Unfortunately I’ve tried all of them and still nothing. I’m receiving all notifications except text messages. I even get notifications while I’m on a phone call telling me that I’m on an active call. Just frustrating since the texts notifications were the only ones I really wanted. Hoping it gets fixed soon.

Your phone settings affect your fitbit. Do you see fitbit at the top of this picture. To control messages from your phone sent by blue tooth  to your fitbit device, settings have to be on.

Thank you.  This ‘fix’ worked. Hope Fitbit solves the issue so we can turn off preview.

I think I'm receiving notifications, but my Inspire isn't syncing to my phone after the update.  I tried the steps in the article.  Is this still a problem that I need to wait out?

Best Answer

Don't wait, Go to your settings on your phone, then blue tooth, click on the i to the right of your inspire, click on forget this device. Do it again if it still shows under the bluetooth list.  Then go to fitbit app on your phone.  It will ask . you to pair the inspire with the bluetooth. Click settings and then allow.  Your inspire should then sync with your phone. keep them close together as you do this and if needed on the chargers.
