We are aware of an issue preventing some users from receiving notifications on their iPhone after updating to iOS 13. If you're having trouble receiving notifications and you updated your iPhone or iPad to iOS 13, follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below:

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and watch this thread for new information. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while our team works to address this.

I was going to buy the Versa 2 this week. Certainly not now though. Thank you for posting this. I'm probably going to the Apple Watch now as I really need text notifications. Can't believe Fitbit are not on top of basic issues like this.

Tried it all and nothing. Then out of nowhere it started working again. So solved but no idea how. Thanks.

I know what you mean. Sometimes you get what you pay for, I guess... Fitbit is way cheaper, but their customer service and software support are sub-par. I think I just fixed the problem myself. All of their complicated series of steps neglected a very basic one: within Settings, I finally clicked on the Fitbit itself, and had to change some of those parameters (which should be default, in my opinion). That seems to have done the trick – and you’d think THEY would have realized that and put that high on the list of remedies to try.

This is the second time recently I’ve had an issue. The last time was when Fitbit “updated” their own software. I did the update and immediately had a problem, where the app would open for a second and then immediately crash. Obviously, i wasn’t the only one to experience this. It took them several days to figure it out.

How did you fix it through Fitbit itself ?

My fitbit Ionic is not showing up as discoverable on my iPhone 11 Pro. I have factory reset my Ionic several times and have tried to search for my iPhone on the Ionic, but to no avail. Please let me know how I can get the two to connect so I can receive notifications on my Ionic again. Thank you.

Hi, my Fitbit Charge 2, will not sync. After I restart this it shows syncing in progress then quits halfway through. My last sync was 3 days ago. Which I had to restart the Charge 2 on my PC, because it will not sync with my phone, since the last update. I removed the app and re added it. I restarted my Charge 2 but nothing seems to work. This is paired with my PC, windows 10, but will not pair on my phone. Last month I had to reset everything and lost a good portion of my information...very frustrating, any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Go into Settings, go into Fitbit, be sure Bluetooth is turned on there (within Fitbit) and also Notifications (again, within Fitbit)

I truly don’t know what worked. I reset my fit bit numerous times. I checked all my phone settings and they were fine. It just started working so I assumed that Fitbit had issues at their end that they fixed and that’s my best guess.

I’ve already posted this three times. Have to get back to work. On your iphone, go into Settings, then Fitbit, then make sure both Bluetooth and Notifications are turned on there (within Fitbit, not just on your phone’s general settings)

I can't restart/Reset my fitbit  Charge 3, it vibrated once and I never got a clock face. I have tried every

thing my User manual suggested.  It has worked fine for many months, and now nothing, battery is ok.

I was going to call Fitbit but it started working on it’s own. I think it was a glitch at their end that they have fixed. Up and running now

Ok all I’m finally up and running, I did all the suggestions but nothing worked, I’m suggesting a problem with Fitbit and they have resolved it in the background, good luck and plenty of patience
