We are aware of an issue preventing some users from receiving notifications on their iPhone after updating to iOS 13. If you're having trouble receiving notifications and you updated your iPhone or iPad to iOS 13, follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below:

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and watch this thread for new information. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while our team works to address this.

I get app notifications, calendar notifications, and call notifications - but no text notifications. I have factory reset my Fitbit, removed it from the app, deleted the app, restarted my iPhone, reinstalled the app, and setup the Fitbit all new, re-paired/resynced, turned on Preview (which I have never needed previously), then checked to ensure that Share System Notifications were still on.

Still no luck - all notifications except for text appear to work.

This is what I’ve found. If You untick banners and lock screen and have show previews when unlocked that works too.

didn't work have to turn on previews to get it to work

I too have been unable to receive text notifications since updating to iOS 13. I spent an hour on the phone with Fitbit customer support on Saturday and tried all of their troubleshooting to no avail. This morning I tried someone’s suggestion of going into message notifications and turning on “show preview when unlocked”.  That seems to have fixed my problem. I hope Fitbit comes up with a true fix soon though, as I don’t like having previews show

Fitbit Update 9/20/2019: If you are still not receiving notifications, we recommend the following workaround:

  1. On your iPhone's settings, tap on “Notifications”
  2. Tap on "Messages"
  3. Tap on “Show Previews”
  4. Choose “Always” or “Only when unlocked”

Thanks to everyone who reported this workaround. Our team is still working on a resolution, please do keep your app up to date. Thanks for your patience and reports.

For what it's worth, per my previous post at the end of the previous page, this work-around did NOT work for me.

However, what did work, after all those steps (factory reset, re-pair, etc), was to disable Lock Screen and Banners (leaving Notification Center) - that did not fix it, but when I turned those back ON, it did. This is the first text message I've had come through.

Obviously it's a ... weird issue, but I wanted to report my side of it.

The (temporary) fix has been posted a few times. Start at the end of the thread and work your way back. However, Fitbit/Apple has not fixed the underlying issue.

I have exactly the same problem!

My phone appears to not hold the Bluetooth connection which is why I assume I am not getting the texts on my charge 2. Is there anyway of sorting this? It’s driving me insane!

Hi everyone! I just spoke to a Fitbit representative and they said they are working to get this fixed. At the moment. there is no ETA of when but they are aware of the problem.

This was from another post ...
And worked for my partner and myself

I also had to turn on notifications in notification centre in messages

I do not need the preview on now either 😁

I have the Fitbit Charge 2 HR. The following steps solved my issue:
1. Sync your device to ensure no loss of data.
2. In the Fitbit app, select Remove this Device.
3. Uninstall the Fitbit App.
4. In Bluetooth settings, select Forget This Device.
5. Install the Fitbit app.
6. Place your Charge 2 HR in the charging cable.
7. Open the Fitbit app and choose Set Up Device.
8. Press and hold the button on your Charge 2 HR until it resets.
9. Enter the 4 digit pairing number shown on your Charge 2 HR screen.
10. Follow the steps in the Fitbit app to finish setting up your device.
11. On your iPhone, go to Settings, then Notifications. Make sure Show Previews is set to Always.
12. Scroll down to the Fitbit app. Make sure Show Previews is set to Always and Notification Grouping is set to Automatic.
13. On your Charge 2 HR, make sure notifications is set to On.
14. Send a test text message. You should now get a notification on your Charge 2 HR.

I know this is a lengthy solution but it worked for me when all other solutions had failed. I hope it works for you as well!

If you untick the lock screen in the alert section at the top of the message notification screen, that worked for me.

So I updated my phone to IOS 13 and now the only notification that comes to my watch is Phone calls. Calls, Texts and Calendar events are all turned on.

Also prior to the update, I was also receiving Outlook message and Facebook Messenger. Now when I got to App Notifications nothing is there.
I've tried everything I can think of except uninstalling/reinstalling the app. I removed the Ionic from my app and that didn't help.

Any suggestions?

I have tried these steps and they have not helped.

Go to Settings>Notifications>Show Previews>Always

This should do the trick! It worked for my Fitbit Versa.

This “fix” still didn’t work and I no longer get my calendar and app updates - very frustrating Fitbit doesn’t keep up with phone updates.
