We are aware of an issue preventing some users from receiving notifications on their iPhone after updating to iOS 13. If you're having trouble receiving notifications and you updated your iPhone or iPad to iOS 13, follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below:

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and watch this thread for new information. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while our team works to address this.

I got my text notifications to work using the only show text previews when unlocked, which I prefer to not show them at all.

I just noticed though that when someone calls me my Fitbit keeps vibrating after I’ve answered the call. Anyone else having this issue?

Yes I had the same issue and it pops up on my Fitbit active call the entire time I’m talking it was getting all my nerves so I gave up on Fitbit and got an Apple Watch since I have an iPhone

I'm having similar problem, in that my watch doesn't stop vibrating when I answer the phone.  It also rings as "incoming call" while I'm making an outgoing call; and buzzed *again* as "incoming call" for the current call I was on, both one hour and two hours in to the call.  All other notifications seem to work fine.

I have tried everything possible for my Charge 2 to receive text messages again but nothing is working after the update. I work outside a lot, phone isn’t always on me so I use my Fitbit to determine if I have to grab a call or reply to a message immediately. I hope this is resolved soon.

I have a Versa.  Shockingly, I was able to receive a text notification but ONLY if I selected 'banner' under the notifications on my iphone.  I do not want a banner of my messages showing on my phone.  I have never had that in the past and don't want to start now.

Any comment, FitBit?

Let your fitbit charge battery die before recharging and re pairing with the app on your phone.

After installing latest IOS I’m getting nothing on my app- not even the steps I’ve walked today, it just keeps coming up no Bluetooth, which is fine as I used my hands free in the car today- it’s still vibrating to remind me if I’ve not done my 250 hourly steps. I’ve removed the device and tried to restart it but it won’t let me !

Did this work after you did it?

OK if that will do the trick, but it could take two more days or so for my battery to die 😞

I was sent this message by Fitbit support on Twitter and it worked for me-

We appreciate the effort. So we can further assist, we suggest that you do the following:

- Open Settings app on phone
- Scroll down to Fitbit
- Ensure toggles next to Bluetooth and Background App Refresh are turned ON

Let us know how things go. We'll be waiting.

I literally tried everything to fix this until I changed the notification settings. I hate having my text preview displayed but if that's what it takes right now to fix the way it's syncing with my versa, that's fine.

Thanks for the input! This worked like a charm 🙂

It is frustrating because fixes seem to only work temporarily and then have to go through process again. It's at the point where I may give up my years of using fitbit and buy an apple watch to avoid the stress and hassle

It seems to have worked from my iPhone 8 to my charge 3.  Better than nothing at this point.  Have to wait for my 2 pm calendar notification to see if that will work now too.

Thanks for sharing.

Ok I just tried this and it worked! I took it a step further and moved my previews to never and closed out the settings and had another text sent and it still worked! Showed up on my Fitbit inspire
