Surge not connecting

Hi, I bought my Dad a Surge and have tried to set it up using his iPad but I've got to entering the number that came up on the surge and it's now stuck on connecting to Fitbit with the little wheel turning, it's been half an hour! Any suggestions? He doesn't have an iPhone and the iPad will be easiest for him to use. Hope someone can help! Thanks

Hey there @Kazpa! Welcome to the Fitbit Community! 

It's great to hear that you bough a Surge for your dad, I recommend performing a restart 2 or 3 times in a row you can find the instructions on this post that @SunsetRunner shared. Then try doing the setup again if the issue persists contact support so they can review your device history and tell you the options.
