Text notifications won't work with Preview on "Never"

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Text messages are not able to show up on the Charge 3 (or any other Fitbit device) unless the iPhone settings for message previews are set to "Always" or "When Unlocked".

I do not like to have my messages displayed on my phone when received and unopened.

This was not an issue in the past.  This needs to be fixed ASAP.  This is a deal breaker for me.

Hi @mimikate. Welcome to the Community Forums.

Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. Let me explain that with the introduction of iOS 13, the required settings to receive notifications changed. For that reason, on the Notifications settings in your phone you'll need to set Show Previews to Always or When Unlocked for Messages and any other preferred app in order to receive those notifications on your Fitbit device. I understand how you're feeling about this change and I'm sorry for this inconvenience. Our team will continue working and improving our products, so be sure that your feedback won't be taken for granted.

By the way, I've moved your post to the iOS App board so you can have more chances to receive help from the Community.

See you around.

Hi @greensmom. It's good to see you here in the forums.

Congrats on your new phone. To work on this together, let me know the Fitbit device that you have. Also, may I know if you still have your previous phone nearby? If you do, make sure to remove your Fitbit device from the Bluetooth settings. Once you've done that, please try the following steps:

  1. Remove your Fitbit device from the Bluetooth settings on your iPhone 12.
  2. Force quit the Fitbit app.

  3. On your iPhone 12's settings, tap Notifications and make sure:
Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked for Fitbit, Phone, Messages, Calendar and any other preferred app.
There is a check mark below Notifications Center.
  4. Restart your Fitbit device.

  5. Open the Fitbit app and pull down on the screen to force a manual sync.
  6. Tap your profile picture > Fitbit device image > Notifications and set up the notifications.

I look forward to your response.

Hi! I just received the Charge 5. I have the new iPhone iOS 16. I saw in previous threads for iOS 13 people had to have notification previews on always to receive  messages on Fitbit. If I click Never for previews I don't get the texts. Is this still the same or a way around having my full text message show up

on my iPhone? Thanks.

Welcome on board, @WMF22.

Thanks for the details, as well as researching the Community Forums. After updating your iPhone to iOS 13 or higher, it's required to have the Show Preview option set to Always or When Unlocked as this will allow you to receive notifications on your Charge 5. I appreciate your feedback and you can always check our help article for more details about how the notifications work.
