Hello everyone!
I would like to announce that the redesigned Fitbit app starts rolling out today! This new app will help you reach your goals, and bring the health and wellness information right on hand.
Check out our latest blog for how to get the most out of the new app.
Note: Please be patient if you don't see the update right away, as it will take some time to roll out completely.
Happy stepping!

The battery life has decreased since the Fitbit 4.0 update. Are there more people who suffer from this?

I agree!!! It’s hideous, big black letters and numbers. No color used to distinguish between different areas on the display! It looks like the print on a sign used to direct senior citizens to the dinning room at an assisted living center.

I absolutely DESPISE the new screen. For one, if there is a way to customize the screen in terms of order of information shown, I have not found it. The screen is dull, dull, dull. My sleep is not being recorded well at all. HATE it, may need to change to Apple Watch.

it’s like a group of preschoolers with crayons were give an assignment to come up with the new design. So disappointed.

Can we go back to the old one? It’s so much easier to see how you are doing. The new one is all one colour and too long

No battery percentage.
Front page looks unappealing
can’t put goals in the order I want

Yes, plus the data is not correct. My App said that the battery was full and when I plugged my watch in to check it was at 29%
----
Yes, and now that I have charged it my app does not recognize it anymore and can’t synch at all… it keeps searching for it and it doesn’t even show up on Bluetooth. Wow - all it took was one Update to make the whole thing unusable. So frustrating!

Exactly what I was thinking! I have often about trying Garmin and now with this new interface, they’re making my decision easier for me! Please bring back the original!

Hate the redesign. We are not three-year-olds, we can read.

This update really is no good, badly thought out and a backward step.
firstly, I like the new fonts and colour scheme, but I know a lot don't. Would it be too much to have some customisation allowed?
Before when I pulled down to refresh the app it showed the state of the Fitbit battery and acted as a good reminder to charge. This has been removed?? I can click on the little icon and see the device, which shows a battery picture but at 13% it looks the same as before and is not coloured to give a hint of the state.
My biggest complaint is the organisation in these blocks. I own a Fitbit hr. This is because I want to manage my steps and heart rate, in particular when exercising. If I only cared about steps I'd have bought a Fitbit, if I only cared about heart rate I'd have bought a heart rate monitor. I used to be able to see both at the same time but now I can't due to these groupings.
The groupings cannot be customised. For some bizarre reason on health grouping the heart rate is last and a link to health metrics first. Guess how often the one at the top changes, once a day! The heart rate changes all the time yet this is below. If it was top it would at least resolve the issue above.
Obviously my focus tile group is the activity one. I used to see floors climbed on here but now that is relegated well down on the display.
Please let us have access to the old app until you can get the new one in a fit state.

I have never spoken to a customer service rep who does anything more than parrot company-dictated language. It does not seem possible the previous app cannot be reinstated.

I'm not a fan of the update. It's completely monochrome and you took all the fun out of it. Now it's just dreary and sad. It's a chore to look at because it doesn't do a good job of attracting my attention to where it needs to be. It's not easy on the eyes are nor is it a delight to use.
Sorry to the UX team that worked on this but I'm not sure what they were shooting for here.

@abccba1 the Charge 5 firmware upgrade debacle is characterised by hundreds of people’s devices getting bricked by preparatory Fitbit app updates even before the failed firmware is foisted upon them. Then it seems that connectivity breaks between the app and the device and sends devices into failed synching and a battery draining death spiral as the device tries to synch various processes and health app data. So my guess is the new Fitbit app is doing that with other devices too. I personally lost the onboard gps and also the ability to use dynamic gps in activities straight after an app update in early August (not the firmware update).
They then just tell you your device is faulty and if you are out of warranty they offer you a discount if you want to pay for a new device to replace the one that their app failure broke. Go check the hundreds of angry posts on the charge 5 community page.
So far I’m ok with a still functional Charge 5 on the old firmware (no loss of battery life but now only tracking walks with the phone gps setting) because I turned off auto update for apps on my phone and am still using my a Fitbit app that is several iterations old.
And now seeing from this thread how awful the new phone app is I feel like I’ve dodged that bullet as well, (for now.)

And what a disastrous design fail this is.
What was wrong with the previous design? Seriously?
Sure you’ve “given” us more options but I can only think it’s been designed for best view on a Google phone, not any other. Colours are bland and make is very difficult to distinguish and the font and size. For goodness sake - at least give us the option to change the font size. I spend so much time scrolling the App to find the metric I want to see or add to that I’VE STOPPED USING THE APP!
Great job Google. You’ve made it unlikeable in the extreme and therefore impossible to use. Well done.

This rollout is making me plan a switch. After years I’m going to go iwatch. You listened to the wrong consultants and forced me.
y’all should fire some csuite for this disaster.

Love the large font but hate how the updated app functions. Slow to update steps and if you go back a day it shows zero until you swipe to load. Keeps saying unable to sync. Not happy!
