Hello everyone!
I would like to announce that the redesigned Fitbit app starts rolling out today! This new app will help you reach your goals, and bring the health and wellness information right on hand.
Check out our latest blog for how to get the most out of the new app.
Note: Please be patient if you don't see the update right away, as it will take some time to roll out completely.
Happy stepping!

Agree. All the stats look the same and most of the graphics have nothing in it. Boring look, reminds me of a monthly finance spreadsheet.

The new update is AWFUL!!!!! I really miss the calories left for the day at the top of the screen to help me stay on track with weight loss goals. This update is so bad that I will start looking for a different company’s fitness products. Fitbit ruined it for me.

Yep. Like many here I have cancelled my Fitbit premium subscription in protest. The sleep tracking has gone for a toss as well - the main thing I used it for
The Applewatch my husband bought me last year is looking more appealing every day.
google you really screwed this one up.

The change in UI is interesting and baffling. I was clear in my first post that I find it uninspiring, boring and does nothing to motivate or draw me in to want to open the app.
Some of the graphics looked familiar to me and i've figured it out I think. The icons and layout are similar to the google fit app. Google definitely chose a simple layout for google fit.
What is baffling is that data from 2018 shows 27.4mil users/month on fit bit and 2.6mil users/mo on google fit. Why would they change the top fitness app to look like one of the least used fitness apps?
IMO there are 2 equally important features of a fitness tracker: The actual product I wear on my wrist; the app itself - what data it collects how it presents it is it engaging is it motivating. For me the app now gets a one star rating.
Anyone waiting for them to roll back to the old look and feel should not hold their breath. Having been in the business of web design, there was way too much time money and energy spent on development, testing and roll out for Google to just roll it back. Maybe they are going for a different target market. Or maybe if there's a mass exodus and glacial drop off in usage, they'll consider some future enhancements.

I have deleted the app as its poibtless anyway…ive checked my budget and will be buying garmin for me and my daughter in a couple of months time. Such a shame. Fitbit will lise a lot of money this way…tragedy.

Thanks for the insight. I will order my new smart watch on Monday and stop waiting for Fitbit/Google to listen to us and do the right thing, when it's obvious they really don't care

I use fitbit for tracking every day and night due to a chronic health condition. I now can no longer see the information important to me. Whatever way they've laid it out doesn't register the information with my brain at all. The weekly totals are most important to me and now they've favoured daily information. Also the heart rate colours are ugly as **ahem** and impossible to tell the difference in spikes. Whoever approved this "upgrade" is a complete idiot.
I've been wearing a fitbit for 10 years now and only had them die during the night a couple of times. But since this incredibly awful update it's died twice. The low battery notifications emails used to arrive consistently at 25% have now arrived at 21%, 19%, and last night 5% they're completely inconsistent. The app no longer shows a battery percentage anywhere which always alerted me to charge my watch before. Google seem intent on ruining fitbit completely and as far as I can tell they're running it straight into the ground.
This latest app change nonsense has convinced me to go with garmin next. The screen popping off every watch I own the last few years was the push but this is the final nail in fitbit coffin for me. Apparently I can import my history over to garmin as well which was the main thing stopping me from changing.

This upgrade is total garbage! So many losses too numerous to mention. Not sure I’ll be staying with Fitbit any longer as the app now is total trash!

Terrible update! Fitbit should restore the previous version and reassign the app design team leader to a position that does not impact customers.
Also, the Sleep Score is very erratic. Too often it doesn’t produce a score.

I've scanned the replies and haven't seen a positive reaction to the new app version, that speaks volumes. The new version is visually worse and the functionality has significantly degraded. I immediately noticed the lack of the percent charge of the watch, and as I use it more I see quite a bit of missing functionality. It fails to track exercise that it previously would track, and when I manually enter exercise the heart rate info is now missing.
Please fix this app.

My email has been bombarded with dissatisfied users responding to my post so I know you have been as well. I understand fixes take time but if not mistaken, I've not seen an acknowledgment from Fitbit that they are listening to their users.
Is Fitbit reviewing the complaints regarding the update and working on a fix?

Early in the release of 4.00. I made a favorable comment on the addition of the synchronized now button to the home screen. At that time before a large percent of the community had migrated to the version 4.00. It seemed to work very well. as more people downloaded the 4.00 update, the synchronized button became less effective and I started using the three finger swipe up two refresh the home screen. On those times, when the three finger swipe to refresh did not work, I then went to clicking on application/device in the upper left-hand corner, then clicking on my tracker, and then scrolling down to synchronize now .

We hate it , it is as clear as mud and unfortunately I will have to move over to apple this Xmas . How could you think something that is so much worse than the previous ap would be appealing? It has gone backwards big time ! I feel really disappointed as I have been with fit bit for about 10 years .

This new app looks so bad I don’t want to use it anymore, I will move to iwatch or garmin. Everything has slowly been getting worse since the Google takeover and this was the last straw for me.

Same I absolutely hate this new app. I have had different models of fitbit for many years and never had a issue with the app previously. This one is awful to navigate, the look is boring and terminology is pointless, should of left it as it was.
