Hello everyone!

I would like to announce that the redesigned Fitbit app starts rolling out today! This new app will help you reach your goals, and bring the health and wellness information right on hand.

Check out our latest blog for how to get the most out of the new app.

Note: Please be patient if you don't see the update right away, as it will take some time to roll out completely.

Happy stepping!

Hello- since the update my sync is inaccurate- for example- my Fitbit showed 11k steps yesterday- and the app only shows 4k after syncing- it also no longer syncs any sleep data. Has anyone else experienced this. Really bummed about the update so far.

I find what has happened to Fitbit since its acquisition by Google really upsetting.  Fitbit used to be a big part of my life because I compete with friends to do the most steps and I do virtual challenges.  I also valued the sleep and heart rate data.  Now I never even look at it because it has been so comprehensively trashed.  I could let it make me very angry, especially Google's total disrespect for its customers and the way negative feedback is simply ignored, or worse, deleted.  But I will simply, and with regret, consign Fitbit to history, and vote with my feet (as it were).  There are plenty of other fitness trackers on the market that have nothing to do with Google, a company I will never again do business with.

mattarosa, just want to let you know that this comment of yours perfectly and eloquently sums up the situation. So much so, in fact, that I've used it as the basis of a post on LinkedIn to ask my network what they think is going on here. Google is putting on a masterclass for ignoring customer experience and delivering the poorest customer service possible by not responding to the feedback they're receiving. Nice post!

@mattarosaWell said! I've already picked out my next fitness tracker; it's a G****n. I actually decided to do this before the v4 app "upgrade". When I found out that I was going to have to create a google account to upgrade my Charge 4 to a Charge 6, I decided my Charge 4 would be my last fitbit device. I de-googled years ago.

I’ll be sure to smash both of our devices upon departure. After all, I no longer recommend the product and It wouldn’t feel right knowing Google acquired 2 new customers with our used Sense devices.

Absolutely! And the pace shown for the walk, the color scheme of the key is absolutely maddening! Impossible! It’s as though the designer was trying to make it as difficult as possible to read. It’s as close to all black as it can get. It’s like a joke. Let’s see there is fat burn, yeah that black, then cardio, yeah that’s black, now peak yeah that’s black too. I feel so much better now, thanks Fitbit for helping me attain my fitness goals with your surrealist/conceptual app.

Well, I finally got the battery percentage on the Dashboard!  And, I noticed that the numbers have been added back to the Health Metrics graphs.  That is nice, now I don't have to guess.  However, I am no longer getting the SpO2 numbers.  I got this metric 5 days last week and the day that I started seeing the battery percentage, I stopped getting SpO2.  Just a coincidence, I don't know...

The new app sucks. Everything blends together and it doesn’t let me move things that are more important to me to the top like the old app used to.
why did you do this?
I used to access the app at least once a day, now I avoid it as much as I can because it’s a drag to look for stuff. Who designed this?
change it back!

I haven’t read one good comment about the new app from users, why do you do this to us?

I've been a Fitbit customer for several years, but things have steadily gone downhill ever since they were purchased by Google. The same thing happened when Google bought Nest, they've steadily gone downhill.Features are removed when the app is "upgraded". Not to mention, this app has stability issues on IOS. I could go on, but others have expressed many of my concerns already.

Maybe I'll get an Apple Watch for Christmas.

I have been on fitbit since 2015.  Have gone through so many of them I have lost count (just happy for a generous Costco return policy, as most of the watches never lasted more than 2 years, sometimes not even 1).  I have stayed wtih Fitbit primarily for the historical stats/badges, as well as what was once a very intuitive and informative interface and statistical presentation.  The app in its current iteration is a shell of the excellence it once was.  The regression has been quick and sudden and I no longer have an incentive to stay with Fitbit.  The fact that Fitbit can't even compromise and provide an either/or means to revert back shows a tone-deafness towards their customers that would have at one time been unfathomable.

I now am weighing whether to return my current watch while I still can and am under the initial 90 day returns policy from the retailer, and spring for a competitor's watch, which, while costing much more, seems to have overall good end-user reviews insofar as the user experience.  I'd hate for this Fitbit to die the inevitable death in a year or less only to relegate it to a paperweight and have to expend more funds to get its replacement.

Certainly there are zero redeeming qualities on this new app.  Zero. Or at least the changes have been so bad I can't see through it.  I don't understand why they left the sleep stats under the old layout where we can easily see a week or a month or month at a simple glance with some scrolling, while with the core stats like steps and stuff, they decided to put that childish bloated graphical representation, and to see previous weeks/months, you now have to click a few other things, and even then it's not in a summary form that has historical data that you just need to scroll through. Instead, what is in the historical data's place are these links to workout videos, for which one needs Fitbit Premium.  I'd think most people don't need Fitbit to charge you for a video on how to get more steps.  Those video links are now just creating bloat where otherwise useful information can be presented.

There isn't a day I regret pressing the update button back in September.  Had I know this dumpster fire of a mess would be what would be the user experience from then onwards, I would have ensure my Fitbit app NEVER updates again.  I am hoping that Fitbit at least does right by its customers by offering an optional reversion back to something that was a semblance of the previous layout.  It's the least they can do for all of us users who have stuck with their products over the years.

So is it because thet want us to move to google?  I am p.o’d. Refunds are useless to us that have been using for a year or so .. they’ve ‘dumbed the app down’ with ’updates’. Any replacement suggestions (except for the oh so expensive Apple watch)?  Disappointing

"This new app will help you reach your goals, and bring the health and wellness information right on hand". This statement is not right. The new app does not help to reach goals, it actually makes it harder.  Also the information is not right on hand, it's more difficult to dig down to the information we need or and some of key information was taken out.

Hi, it's probably best to post in "The redesigned Fitbit app is rolling out!" topic in the appropriate iOS or Android app forums along with the other unhappy users where you will see more fully the issues.

Unfortunately it would seem likely you are stuck with this version officially. Though there may be some tweaks over time already mentioned there. This could take months to get this test version (requiring much reworking) to anywhere near how the previous version was.

Hi, I have a slight vision impairment which means I struggle to see detail unless there is a high contrast between the colours. The landing page is okay although I would definitely prefer it to be more colourful. However, once I finally located the GPS map in the exercise days section I now find I can barely see the different pace/heart rate zones because the colours are too similar. What was wrong with the red, green etc that we used to have! I’m sure I’m not the only Fitbit user with a vision problem!
The map is temperamental as well, some times it comes up, sometimes it takes ages to load, and sometimes it just doesn’t!
Something to add to the list of things that need fixing?

So many reviews here and in the iOS App Store stating why this new complete app revision fails. Yet the app developers don’t seem interested in addressing them. (Google, your true colors are showing and it’s not good)

For me and others it is now useless. Access to heart rate metrics for workouts is not available, no more Zones, choices to choose for exercise types, inability to choose our individual personal metics for the dashboard,……. The former app was SO much more useful and informative.

After a decade+  of wearing/using Fitbit watches and the app, I and many are considering changing to a different device with better apps.

RIP, Fitbit

Add my voice to the chorus of dissatisfaction with the new app. The previous app provided me with easy access to my workout data, such a heart rate zones, time in each zone. Now I can’t make heads or tails of where I was in the zones during my workout, total minutes in each zone, etc. Google is obviously trying to kill Fitbit.

After the latest Fitbit app update to 4.06, I am forced to restart my Versa 3 several times a day to get it to sync back up with the app. Is there a chance the development team will be sending a bug fix for this issue?

I came here just to complain about the design and beg Fitbit to change it. The extreme minimalism and uniformity makes it harder to navigate and joyless to use. My eyes are tired from trying to figure out which squiggly line icon to tap for basic information.

No kidding! I’m not colorblind, at all, look at the madness below. I know when I am being gaslighted. Who would come up with this???

I appreciate innovation, updates, and re-design - but I’m not a fan of the new app. Is there a way to go back to the previous version?
