Hello everyone!

I would like to announce that the redesigned Fitbit app starts rolling out today! This new app will help you reach your goals, and bring the health and wellness information right on hand.

Check out our latest blog for how to get the most out of the new app.

Note: Please be patient if you don't see the update right away, as it will take some time to roll out completely.

Happy stepping!

How can I go back to the app before you screwed it up?  I have been an avid Fitbit user since 2015.  I have been a premium user for a couple years.  I never thought about changing to another brand until now.  I absolutely hate what you have done with the app.  It is super inefficient and provides less information in a convenient format as it used to do.  Guess it is time to go with an Apple unless there is a way to revert back to the prior version.

All of the heart rate information has disappeared from exercises in the app. It's still available on the website. Is this a bug or intentional?

I think it’s to get older users who can’t use the new software to buy a new model. But they’re alienating everyone with this awful un-user friendly update.

You’ve only got to read the notice boards to see what an absolute disaster this update is. It’s a poorly designed app, with so little of the old info on it that everyone liked. No one asked for this and no one wants this. Clearly this is part of a longer term plan to wind the brand down and push everyone onto google pixel. I hope you’ve done your numbers as I suspect once you lose your customers to Garmin etc you’ll never get them back.
if you wanted to keep us, restore the old functions - in the exercise tab for example where fitbit used to have proper heart rates for the given exercises, break down per km running etc- acknowledge this has been a complete botch-up, and apologise for treating your customers like 5 yr olds instead of the brand loyal customers we are, in some cases for many years. Otherwise let us know you have no plans for that and we can all go off and buy non-google products from now on

cheers

It doesn’t work! The app freezes, I have to close to restart. The changes to the exercise pages that show your recap of the exercise is now to cumbersome to provide any info at a glance. The GPS track is horrible…. Go back to the last update, this one stinks!

Google's original motto was "Do No Evil." They abbreviated it, by eliminating the word "No."  May Google relish in its new consumer status, as the next Bud Light!

Best Answer

No, you shouldn’t have to, bikeracer.
And that’s simply  because I changed nothing from the time it used to record ALL sleep and now, when it doesn’t.

Exactly, missmydata, it’s too glitchy now.

Has anyone else suddenly lost the “exercise days” feature on the watch itself? I have a Charge 5.

It still apparently counts them as the days show on the app, but the watch feature has disappeared. Yes, I restarted the watch, several times.

Mine has this showing on the watch.

Who is the genius who designed the updated app. Seem to be missing the whole point of having a Fitbit . No exercise heart rate read out so no average which is what we need . Thanks Pete

Trying to improve my attitude toward the Fitbit app "improvement." Here it goes:

Who doesn't love a colour pallette of Bugger Green and Phelm Gray? Motivational, don't you think would? Who would expect accurate and readable health statistics from a fitness tracker? Why does anyone really need to know the battery level? Why would anyone expect to have the same or improved features from a fitness app, that has been "upgraded?" Why would customers expect a company like Google, to respond to their little complaints, criticisms, and questions? And, frankly, who doesn't trust major Corporations to tell the truth?

See? Don't you feel better, now that we've improved our attitude? Enjoy your Holiday and start shopping for that new watch!

It seems to me that there are a LOT of unhappy users.  I have almost stopped using the app except for checking sleep scores and that doesn't always get updated.  I tried a Samsung smart watch but didn't like their app either and it was missing some of the functionality that we have with Fitbit in addition to their small watch still being huge on my wrist.  I have gotten to where I just check steps and heart rate on my Charge 5 and don't even bother with the app much anymore.  I know many of us had gotten spoiled with the old app and were very happy with the functionality.  Not so much anymore.  Even so, there is some information that we can't access if we don't have the Premium membership, so I guess we are just going to have to live with it.  I have seen others mention Garmin, but it looks like a huge watchface as well.  I love the sleek look of my Charge 5, so barring any unforeseen developments, I have decided to stay with it for the time being.

Who knows, maybe all our complaints will get some of the missing functionality back ...

Hi @Nutter3333 - probably best to post in "The redesigned Fitbit app is rolling out!" topic in this forum along with the other unhappy users where you will see more fully the issues, and include which Fitbit App version you have installed.

Unfortunately it would seem likely you are stuck with this version officially. Though there may be some tweaks over time already mentioned there. This could take months to get this untested version to anywhere near how the previous version was.

Hi. Discovered if you go into

Excercise days

Find the excercise you did and tap it

Then press the square box with the arrow top of screen

Then press the exercise tab

You should have the old readout for that excercise

Just when you think the new app can’t get any worse, it does! That’s the only consistent thing—it keeps getting worse. Ugh. It’s absolutely terrible! Inaccurate information, super slow, terrible user experience, etc etc. Users give feedback constantly and are completely ignored. It is beyond frustrating!

- Can no longer recategorize workouts.

- Can no longer see exercise zones for each workout.

- Can no longer see list of exercises and their zones (unless I pretend to “share” an exercise—then I see this mysteriously hidden list).

What is happening?

I tried Garmin for a year and switched back to Fitbit recently (with a Charge 6 purchase), because I recall the App experience Fitbit offered being so much better. This is why you have a loyal customer base. This is how good your app used to be. This was what was driving your sales.

Your hardware is great. I don’t want to box this Charge 6 and switch back to a Garmin, but your app update makes it very hard for daily users to stick with Fitbit and deal with these daily frustrations.

Please respect your community and bring the old app designers back, if not the old app 😭

Totally agree!!!! Just when I thought I couldn’t hate the new app any more I went to look at my workout today and was unpleasantly surprised that they managed to do just that. It doesn’t track sleep as well as and the heart rate monitor during workouts isn’t as accurate as it used to be.  Even after I updated the watch. My fiancé and I happy and loyal Fitbit users since 2018, but next I’m pretty sure we’re going to become an Apple Watch household. I’ve already cancelled premium. It’s really sad because I have absolutely loved Fitbit for years.

The new Fitbit app totally sucks! I want a refund, and will be returning this for an Apple Watch. This watch is totally useless without the graphs and colors for the exercise zones. The Amazon Halo was way better and picked up more movement and exercise without needing to start exercise like on the Fitbit. The new watch and new app suck- the new watch and app used to detect when I was walking and record. Doesn’t even do that anymore. Pointless for a fitness tracker!!

I am sorry to say I am not a fan of the changes particularly to the exercise section

1. The change that removed the app's ability to add custom exercise type. This change is just annoying and frustrating.

2. The changes to the heart rate zone categories. Particularly the color scheme (the previous was WAY more easier to differentiate) and the renaming of the zones to Light Moderate and Vigorous doesn't help either as fat burning and cardio was way better. Can you add a way to change them please. This change is confusing and unhelpful especially those who are health conscious as well as heart minded. Also it is annoying and inconvenient that you removed the max Heart Rate, the way the chart is now is hard to read and differentiate the zones clearly like before.

Recommends

1: Bring back the was to add exercise types.

2: Make an ability for users to name the Heart Rate Zone Categories or at least give us an option to change it to the old way. Also change the colors back or to something that is easy to identify

3: Also the color scheme for the whole app is "painful" to look at. Can you maybe think of adding a way to change it or at least give a dark mode.
