Hello everyone!

I would like to announce that the redesigned Fitbit app starts rolling out today! This new app will help you reach your goals, and bring the health and wellness information right on hand.

Check out our latest blog for how to get the most out of the new app.

Note: Please be patient if you don't see the update right away, as it will take some time to roll out completely.

Happy stepping!

Was this ever resolved?  I'd like to know the answer too.

I checked when my phone had last backed up to iCloud. If it is before you updated the app you can restore it to the version before by doing the following.

go to Settings>general>transfer or reset iPhone>erase iPhone.
make sure in this process you do not back it up.
You will then have your phone back to brand new. When setting it up choose to do it manually, then from an iCloud back up. Chose the iCloud back up you want and your phone will return to what it was when it was backed up, app versions and all!

Hope it helps!

Ten years and counting for me too. After a rocky year with the charge 3 where they replaced 2 of mine Fitbit was great. I thought with google buyout it would get better but instead they systematically took stuff away dummied it down

On some watch faces (mine is the heart in the middle) if you scroll down to the next screen it shows the battery percentage in teeny weeny font you have to read with a magnifying glass.

So my issues are essentially user interface — not specific things with my device and app syncing (such as what I’ve noticed below in mistaken identification of exercise and the like, which btw, is easily enough corrected)

1. I don’t like it when things automatically force an update rather than giving me the choice. And of course that’s what happened here. I wonder if there is a way to return to the previous version of the app?

2. My main reason for disliking the new app is simply the visual interface. It’s supposed to be easier to read, I would guess, but I just don’t like it.

  • Also an interface issue is that the only subcategory for sleep is duration. But I want to know my sleep score first and foremost. I realize all I have to do is touch the sleep duration and it will take me to those details, but if I have it as a focus, I want to know how I slept—awakenings etc and now that doesn’t appear to be possible at first sight.

We should not have to do this! Fitbit should give us the option of
returning to the old version!!

This is more of a device issue than an app one. But either way, it is easily corrected. All you have to do is go to the exercise and re-categorize as whatever it was. I do this all the time when it registers as elliptical when all I was doing was a fast walk. If it registered as cycling what is likely is that you were engaged in something where both of your hands were on something in front of you as you moved - like if you were doing a supermarket race. 😁 There used to be some such tv show years ago!

Hey guys, Brenda and  Sukilu

if you were more specific it would help. What are you not able to do Brenda? Are you unable to sync at all? Also what devices are you guys using? You might find more detailed help if you search under the device forums and issues with the new app.

Sukilu, what do you mean by “ everything is averages”? What are you seeing that you don’t want to see? You mention you want to see primarily steps and that is very easy to do. All you have to do is click on the pen icon in the top right and then you can adjust to see whatever you want to see. If there are things you don’t want to see at all like health metrics or whatever then all you have to do is click that  toggle button off. You can create a custom set so that the first thing you see is steps and then, if you don’t care about anything else, you can turn those other metrics off completely by switching the toggle buttons off. Then when you view the app you can select steps and you can see all of the history and data that you had before.

I've used Fitbit Charge 2 thru 5 but upgraded to Sense 2 fifteen days ago and so far, very happy with it. Unfortunately, can't say the same about the new app version. I used the previous app version for the first week of Sense 2 and no problems. Downloaded the new version this week and it is not working well. I have reached all exercise goals on all days but as in the left hand image attached to your message the app is showing exercise days every other day so I can't reach my exercise goals because it isn't recording them correctly. I also hate the look and layout of it. I think it looks cheap and it is not nearly as versatile and easy to personalise as the earlier version. The lack of battery visual isn't a problem for me as I found it was so small on the Charge 5 I couldn't see it and I've chosen a watch interface, the quick summary, which shows it very clearly. If I could revert to the previous app I would so please advise if there is any way of doing this.  Many thanks.

Your update means I do not have access to my step streak metrics, just as I was about to reach 1000 days.

Please bring back the step streak counter (preferably as an optional display metric that I can put at the top).

The main page is boring. It looks like it was designed by a kindergartener.

When I click on my steps I use to be able to see my total for the week primarily displayed and the previous days listed in descending order. Now I have to click on steps then weeks to get that information. The total steps for the week is not prominently displayed on the screen. I do get the average step total prominently displayed which is a stat I don’t understand the purpose of.

Weekly stats are important but monthly and yearly step counts are useless.

That’s as far as I have gotten on the new app. If I find other issues I don’t like I’ll let you know.

Fitbit Designers,

It took more than a few minutes to figure out the new layout, but I got it. In some ways, you're offering too much.

HOWEVER, the decision to get rid of the battery indicator is a big fail for many of us who use watch faces that don't offer battery-life indicators. Please consider adding that back in ASAP. Now I have no way of knowing when my watch is going to lose power and the email notifications don't give any battery life percentage information...just that you're low.

I totally dislike the new revision. Why change it when it was perfect the way it was. ☹️

Man, referring to the Terms of Service is a useless response to keep parroting. We know they can update without our permission, the point is that we are customers and this is not conducive to a positive customer experience. Perhaps you can change your script to forward these complaints to FitBit/Google instead of throwing the ToS back in a dissatisfied user's face.
