Tracked Exercise Double Counted?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I'm brand new to Fitbit so please bear with me.  I'm using a Charge HR to track my ice hockey, running and weight sessions.  When I go for a run, I want to log the route with my phone's GPS.  For this I use the Tracking feature of the iOS app.  As soon as I start tracking, I also hold down the button on my Charge HR for 3 seconds to start it logging my run.  I do this so that I can easily refer to the elapsed time by glancing at my wrist (the iPhone is attached to my waist and not easily visible).  When I get back I press stop on the iPhone tracking and also hold the Charge's button for 3 seconds to get the checkered flag.  Perhaps not surprisingly, when I sync my Fitbit to the iPhone, there are two entries for the exercise (see attached image).  My questions:

  1. Is there any way (or need) to consolidate these two entries?  For example, are my steps (or other metrics) being double counted?
  2. Should I refrain from pressing the button on my Charge?  (I have to say, I like to see the zone breakdown at the dashboard level.  Note how that info isn't shown for the iOS tracked run which only shows the actual map route at the dashboard level.)

Any insight is much appreciated.

Cheers,

Darran.

I'm having the same problem. I like using my tracker to see current workout status but the gps/app to record the workout more accurately. Is there a way to avoid the double counting? The easy solution is to just delete the entry you don't want, I get that..

@futnuh @leo95se I can definitely provide some clarification. If you use MobileRun in the Fitbit App (aka using your phone's GPS to track your run), you don't need to put your Charge HR into exercise mode by holding the button for three seconds.

Using MobileRun creates a workout in your activity log, and if you are wearing your Charge HR, heart rate will be included in your workout. Click here for more information.

So if you use MobileRun you don't need to put your tracker in exercise mode, you simply need to wear your tracker and start/stop the workout in the Fitbit App. Click here for more information about MobileRun.

Let me know if you need any additional help!

Hi @DerrickS i am not seeing that work.  for my blaze, it auto starts a run after x time.  once complete, the phone app provides a log, then after the blaze syncs with the app, it provides a fairly similar update.

next, when i start the run workout on the tracker, i start the app, hoping they connect.  based on the above, it doesnt seem they do.  is something set up wrong?

one more thing, its possible that the additional data is coming from myfitnesspal. i know they are linked, but i dont know the best way to set them up so this doesnt happen.

To confirm - it's double counted when I use my blaze. I didn't start the activity on the blaze today, only via the app. One entry, but I couldn't see stats on my watch while running. Is there a way to fix this?
