Tracker counting steps while driving.

Steps are not correct. They are being counted while I drive and other non walking task

Fitbit is not claiming to be 100% accuracy with all steps. You will experience false steps and floors from time to time. 

Don't sweat the small stuff and it's all small stuff. 🙂

@Des2u, please keep in mind that Fitbit trackers count steps using the natural movement of your arms when you're walking making possible for the tracker to count steps if you're waving your arms or while you're driving, as @ACG mentioned, it's not 100% accurate. 

 

At this moment, to prevent your tracker from counting steps when you're not walking or performing an activity I would like to suggest  you to restart your tracker, then go to your online Settings. In here, from the menu, click on Devices > Your tracker. In the options, check for Wrist Orientation and Handedness, change the settings accordingly to match your preferences and save them. 

 

If your tracker is still tracking steps while you're driving you can log a driving activity following these steps:

 

  1. Log into your fitbit.com dashboard.
  2. At the top of the page click Log > Activities.
  3. Scroll down until you see Log Activities
  4. Start typing "Driving"
  5. Select the date, start time and duration matching when your tracker counted steps. 
  6. Click on Log.

These will delete any information logged by your tracker during that time, including steps and calories burned.

All calories burned, including BMR, or just those associated with the steps?

 

If all calories, and if I had an issue with a few steps here and there, I commute about 3 hours round-trip each weekday. I would be blowing away over 12 percent of my BMR for the day and 8 percent of my average Fitbit calculated daily burn.

 

Please answer. Moderators and users, alike, are regularly recommending using the Driving activity and if is all calories, the people being urged to use that "fix" need to know so they can make an informed decision regarding it's use.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention, please note that when you log a driving activity only the calories directly linked to the steps that were wrongly recorded will be deleted, your BMR calories won't.
