i then tried to update again and received ‘fbbluetootherrordomain error 18’ I deleted the app and reinstalled now I get ‘fbbluetootherrordomain error 3’

my actual Fitbit itself is frozen on a half way update symbol on the face I have tried resetting it dozens of times but again it does nothing

My is doing the same thing right now ! Have you tried anything else to go back to normal instead of just pressing the button in the watch ?

My Fitbit Charge also failed to update citing error18. After several emails from Fitbit with suggestions that all failed, Fitbit have said they can do nothing more hence my Charge hr which is 2 and a half years old is not able to be used again.  Fitbit refuse to take any responsibility. This is not the attitude of a company I would choose to do business with.

No more purchases of Fitbit products from me or my family or friends

What other methods you tried ? Mine is a bit younger than yours, I only had for a year ... maybe it might work for me ?!

Email Fitbit and they will tell you to plug tracker into charger, hold button on charger down for 2 secs, unplug it keeping button in for 8 or 9 seconds then let go as Charge flashes and produces information etc. Further instructions followed, but my tracker only showed a half complete update progress line with a question mark. So nothing ever happened. Get it touch with zfitbit and they will give you the whole useless drill
Do it quickly as Charge is over a year old, warranty has expired and that is the end of it. Good Luck

Hello @cathfergus@Kiitsz@Doncaster42 and @Karoline96, have a warm welcome to the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board. Smiley Happy

@Doncaster42, I appreciate you have let us know the troubleshooting steps you have tried in order to resolve this issue. @cathfergus, I'm very glad your issue has now been resolved by updating your tracker with the USB dongle and a computer.

At this moment, if your tracker is still having trouble finishing the firmware update I would like to suggest you to go to your phone Settings > Bluetooth and check if your tracker is on the list of paired devices. If it is, tap on it and select "Forget this Device", then go to the Fitbit app and attempt to update the tracker again.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and let me know the outcome. Smiley Wink
