Tracking activity - losing calories/active minutes

I've noticed that 2x this week, my Fitbit was not accurately counting calories burned. My step count appears correct, but at times I know I was up and moving, the calorie chart is showing the equivalent of sleeping/not moving (like 1 cal/min).

Today, while wearing my One, I used the iOS app to track a walk. When I first finished the walk it synced and gave me steps (4924) and told me I burned 6 cals/min for the 55 min walk (around 360 cals) and counted the 55 active minutes.

After coming back inside my house, the next time I checked the app, it took away my active minutes and my tracked walk changed to 1 cal/min, saying I burned 60 cals. My steps and distance for the day did not change.

I have my app set for multi trackers, so when I came in, it all also synced with my Charge HR (which I did not touch and just sat on a table).

Tried resetting my One and uninstalling/reinstalling the app. Any idea what is causing the inconsistencies and changes in data!?

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @thejessness84. It's great to have you here. Thank you for your efforts while trying to resolve this issue before contacting us. This behavior sounds weird. I'm no sure about what could cause the discrepancy. If you are still experiencing this issue, please set up your Fitbit One and Charge HR as replacement devices. This might help to avoid having any other similar issue.

If you are having the same problem after trying the above doesn't help, please let me know the dates and what exercises you were performing. Additionally, a screen shot of the activity and the calories burned could be of help.

Hope to see you around more often. Robot Very Happy

Hello Edson!

Thanka for getting back to me! Aside from that one week of wonky activity, the issue hasn't happened again. If it does, I'll be sure to provide a screen shot and try the replacement device thing.

Thank you again 🙂

Hey @EdsonFitbit
No sooner do I tell you it hasn't happened.. it happened today!

I logged a walk using the tracking on the iOS app and wearing my One. Right after the walk, it was correct with about 6 cals/min. After work, I switched to my Charge HR and used that to log my spin class. After class, I synced and my walk from earlier lost the calories - dropping to 1 cal/min. I also noticed that times I'm up and moving, it's still around 1 cal/min.

It's almost like there may be confusion in the app between what tracker I was wearing at the time.

Screen shot of my steps throughout the day:

Screen shot of my calories burned. As you can see, there are times where it almost looks like I'm sleeping, burning the equivalent of 1 cal/min, even though I was moving around (even if lightly).

Hey thejessness84, I am having a similar issue... Last Friday night I burned 7215 calories... I was sooo proud of myself!! Saturday, I all my data was still there. Sunday night, I was reviewing my week to calculate what my weekly deficit was, when I noticed that it changed my burn to 6848. No other data seems to have changed... I've had my device for a little over a month. I'm wondering if this has happened before, and I just didn't notice.. I'm considering returning it to get a new one! Was your issue ever resolved??

Hi @Yungprince04! Sorry it's taken a couple days. I have not actually found a solution. It seems to happen sporadically, so I'm not entirely sure what causes it. Generally, my two Fitbits (the One and Charge HR) seem to work fine and the app tends to recognize switching between the two with no problem.

Maybe for you it was just recalculating based on the data? It does suck to suddenly see such a drop!

@Yungprince04 Thanks for joining us. @thejessness84 @Yungprince04 Thank you for the screen shot. The engineering team just released a new app version for iOS devices, please download it here. If you are still experiencing the same problem, it could be a good idea contacting Customer Support. They might be able to investigate this issue and provide further assistance.

Catch you later. Smiley Very Happy
