I have completed all the work around suggestions. iOS 13.2.2 and FitBit app are up to date. Watch update starts, downloads via phone, watch gets stuck, FitBit app shows “Update available” and around in circles I go.
Now what? I never had difficulty before.

Hi @Kiehn_on_you. Welcome on board. @Abby92, it's good to see you here and thanks for your help. I'm sorry for the delayed response.
@Kiehn_on_you, thanks for troubleshooting your sister-in-law's watch prior posting and sharing its behavior when doing the firmware update. I understand how difficult this has been for you and let me help you out. Since you've used your computer, please make sure it's a Windows 10 with built Bluetooth and give a last try to the steps described above. If the issue persists, provide me with your phone's model and OS version so I can further investigate.
I'll be around, keep me posted.

Had the same problem with a brand new Fitbit versa lite, after hours trying and following what was posted here, i goit to work by
1. Factoing reseting the watch .
2. Deleting the previously paired watch from the phone (android bluetooth devices)
3. Starting the configuration with the phone by opening the app and deleting the previously watch from the app then reconfiguring the watch as a brand new watch.
4. The first thing the app did was to update the watch, there was a big difference it showed a progress bar with percentage on the phone. It took almost 2 hours to complete, but the percentage was steadily rising like 3 percent from time to time.
