Unable to rename workout type on Fitbit app

Has the ability to rename a workout type been removed in 4.04?

Previously I've been starting and stopping workouts via the "Martial Arts" exercise shortcut on my Charge 5, and then going into the workout record via the exercise tab in the app and renaming the workout with a custom name to reflect specifically what I had been doing [e.g., "Class", "Form Practice", "Weapon Training", etc.]

Now the only thing that seems to be editable is the start and stop time for the workout.

Is there something obvious I'm missing?

That would make me unhappy. I’ve avoided Apple Watch and stuck with Fitbit
for ten years, but…..

The Google buyout seems to have wrecked a company that most of us were happy with.  I feel the demise of Fitbit is on the horizon.  We all have trackers now that don’t actually perform in the way that they should and the customer service is appalling in this instance!  I’ve been a Fitbit user now for way over 10 years and this will most definitely be my last.

Agree. I already got myself a new 250€ device, different brand. Difficult to see that i would now buy another Fitbit, especially after this weird new app-release that totally destroyed all the features that were useful for us fitbit users - what made fitbit special for us - made it stand out in the market.

sorry, but does not stand out anymore.. in the good way, atleast…

@mauryj  thank you! That is indeed a long way around but it works.

The app doesn’t show the correct type of exercise, e.g. when I do elliptical it shows walk.  I used to be able to edit and change to the correct type, but not anymore. I agree with other commenters, the app keeps getting worse!

Thank you! This worked and looked just like it did before the update, once I navigated there like you said.

I haven't been able to re name in android for a long time, I have had to use my iPad / ios vesion to cgange tennis to Badminton, since recent update cannot rename on ios either. Using workout for Badminton gives different results including heart rate which is strange. Also sync is very often down due to the server being offline.

Hi elfrun, I have the same issue with synching, The app seems to do it when
it feels like it. It's all so disappointing.

This doesn’t work. There is only the options walk or run.  Also, the app hard to allow me to edit the exercise types and order they appeared on my Fitbit but doesn’t allow this anymore.

This option no longer works since it changed to Google. The only thing you can edit is the start & stop time of the workout. There is no way on the app or on the online dashboard to change the exercise category.
Please bring this option back. This is one option I used frequently. One reason why I loved my FitBit. I am not liking the app or these changes I have seen since Google took over. 😞

@Jen005There is a way to recategorize your exercises using the current version of the app. It is unacceptably complicated, but it is possible.

See my post here ...

Thank you! That did work but why can’t it be as easy as it was before Google took over? It was so simple to change it without doing though multiple steps and screens!

Same has happened with mine. Really disappointed with the latest update. Very poor!!

I cannot edit the type of workout following the instructions you referenced. Only the date and duration can be changed. My app is 4.08 on iOS. What is the plan to get this fixed? Please don’t only say it is in engineering. If it is, please get the target date for resolution from them and post it along with the release number. Thanks.

That’s the version I have and following the instructions provided above by mcw53, I was able to edit my exercise category!

😂
Go ahead.
Food luck.

I’m just a user like you and
Fitbit has ignored every suggestion I have ever made.
