Has the ability to rename a workout type been removed in 4.04?
Previously I've been starting and stopping workouts via the "Martial Arts" exercise shortcut on my Charge 5, and then going into the workout record via the exercise tab in the app and renaming the workout with a custom name to reflect specifically what I had been doing [e.g., "Class", "Form Practice", "Weapon Training", etc.]
Now the only thing that seems to be editable is the start and stop time for the workout.
Is there something obvious I'm missing?

It sure is disappointing that there has been absolutely no improvement on this issue for so long.
I don't find any other hardware at all interesting.
They are all too big and have features I don't want. Also, I never want to take it off, so why should I have to charge a smartwatch more than once a week?

Maybe we should start a new post - what I bought to replace my Fitbit!

Now my app doesn’t work at all and on the Fitbit only some of the functions

Following these directions does not provide a way to change the name of the activity. Fitbit labeled my lawn mowing as "Outdoor Bike". There is no way to edit the exercise type in the phone app. The web allows me to type in "mowing" and shows an autocomplete choice for mowing lawn, which I selected. I then pressed "update" but it continued to be listed as "Outdoor Bike".
When will this problem be fixed? It appears to have been identified six months ago.

@Rod_O
Me too! “I've always started runs manually on the app, because that’s only way to get split times through my earphones”
Maybe this deserves its own post.
Glad to hear it’s not just me. Every time I run, I start a workout on my Charge 6 to get the real-time stats. And simultaneously start a workout in the app to get the split time call outs.
Then I end up with a duplicate workout that I have to delete.
It’s a lame, hacky workaround and a poor user experience for what should be core functionality in the FitBit ecosystem.

$$$$.
There is one thing that Fitbit has going for it and that is price.
A number of individuals have expressed dissatisfaction with the Fitbit software and it may be worth its own post: What did I choose to wear after I stopped using the Fitbit?

Let us communicate directly with the “teams that are working” on improving Fitbit. Or Google CEO so we can suggest those teams be fired forthright… IF they actually exist in the first place… or IF their directive is to actually improve the product.
I doubt either of those IFs apply.

I was able to edit an activity today!
Fitbit v4.15 (41530025)
Actually, I was able to edit two activities today!
They were automatically added as Walking and I could change them to Table Tennis by searching for another activity.
Older activities, from yesterday, I was only able to edit by selecting an activity from a list.
What happened was that I got the notification "You have been active 5 days this week", and when I clicked on it, I was suddenly back in the old functional interface. You know, the one we have all seen come and go randomly this last year, which was magically available when clicking "revise your data".
Now I can't come back to that interface again, as the notification is gone, and no matter where/how I click, there is no way to get back to the working interface again. 😞

Following the steps in the link provided by MarreFitbit still does not allow me to edit the exercise type. I used to be able to do this last fall, but now only the start and stop time can be edited. Will this problem in Fitbit's software be corrected? There are also new problems in the sleep tracking benchmark function.

Adding to this thread that I am also experiencing this issue. Moderators and other users will advise how to edit exercises, which I am very used to doing in the previous Fitbit version, but now I can ONLY edit start and stop time. I'm also experiencing the separate issue where my tracked runs are being recategorized to walks. This didn't happen before I updated the app and I'm very frustrated with these removed functions and the general UI.

I have a feeling that Google is making a move away from IOS and this is their not so subtle way of asking us to leave without actually announcing it.

Hey everyone. I just wanted to give an update. I bit the bullet and switched to Garmin. I absolutely wish I had stayed with fitbit. On garmin, if I don't start tracking my workout before I begin, then it does not track. I cannot go in and add it with the ability to read my heart rate levels during the workout. It just manually logs the workout with no data. Useless. There are actually several features that I feel are lacking, but I digress. Just came here to say, regardless of the frustrations from the recent changes with google, the operating system is still superior.
