My iPhone died and I couldn't disconnect my fitbit from it. I am trying to connect my new iPhone8 and the app just says looking. How do I get it connected?

I have had the same problem for the past day or two. Am trying to get Fitbit support to sort it out as this has only started since an update to the app

Hello @SunsetRunner and @Kclayton, thanks for joining us, it's a pleasure for me to welcome new members to the Fitbit Community. It's nice to see you too @ACG, I appreciate your constant help. Smiley Happy

@SunsetRunner and @Kclayton, if your Fitbit device gets stuck during the setup process and you were not able to remove it from the Bluetooth devices on your old phone, please try the following:

  1. Turn off Bluetooth on your phone; wait 10 seconds, and then turn it back on.
  2. Update the Fitbit app if you haven't yet.
  3. Make sure you have a strong WiFi signal and that there are no other Bluetooth devices around that might interfere with the setup process.
  4. Restart your Fitbit device, then leave it plugged in and charging.
  5. If you can't set up after a restart, reboot your phone or tablet and try to set up again.

I hope this can be helpful, if there's anything else I can do for you, please feel free to reply.

I was getting the 'looking...' error. I restarted phone, bluetooth, reinstalled app - all to no avail. Yesterday, I was on a chat with Fitbit helpdesk team. The guy showed me how to restart my flex. After that, it started to sync back again. As someone has already responded below, we should try out these options. Happy Fitbitting!

Thanks for all the help. Contacted supported and ended up buying a new fitbit. The one I had would not connect to my new phone. Thanks all!
