Unable to setup Charge 3

I purchased 2 new charge 3’s. 1 for my partner which I had no problem at all setting up on her Samsung notebook. My new charge 3 absolutely would not pair with my IPad that has the newest version of IOS.  Something like 13.2.3. I tried everything then I contacted Fitbit Help via the telephone. It seemed like I was on the phone with them for forever. At the end of the conversation I was told it was defective and to return it. I exchanged it at Costco & came home with my new Charge 3. Exact same problem. I decided to pair it with my older IPhone that doesn’t have the newest version of IOS. No problem. The info would then come over onto my IPad but it has to be on my phone first. On my IPad it shows the charge 3 connected via Bluetooth & in the Fitbit app it will only show updated info if it’s on my phone first. Just this morning I shut off Bluetooth on my phone & turned it off. I deleted the device from the Fitbit app, deleted the app from my IPad then shut it off for over 1 min. I installed the Fitbit app from the app store & tried pairing my new Charge 3 to my IPad and it still won’t pair. I can only surmise that the issue is related to the new version of IOS and the developers just don’t care and can’t find a fix. Either way, as the customer I’m the one who’s paying the price by my dissatisfaction.
The issue is not just with notifications

Hi @iambmw, welcome to the Community Forums!

Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for troubleshooting your device prior to posting, I totally understand how frustrating this matter can be for you. To better assist you with this, can you please let me know which iPad are you using? If you haven't already done so, I recommend you to check all the information that's specified on: How do I set up my Fitbit device? to check if all the requirements are correctly configured to setup your device. Then, you can move forward to the troubleshooting steps that are specified on: Why can't I set up my Fitbit device? and let me know how it goes.

Please make sure that your mobile device is compatible because due to a compatibility concern you can experience connection difficulties.

I'll be around if you need anything else, please keep me posted.

I have repeatedly deleted the Fitbit from my IPad Pro running an IOS 13.2.3 platform. I have turned my device for for the required 10 seconds. I have removed all other Fitbit’s from the app. I have repeatedly sought to pair & set up my new Charge 3 to my IPad. I only get as far as entering the 4 digit code from the Fitbit device onto the Fitbit app on my IPad. That’s it. It always tells me to abort because it is unable to locate my Fitbit device.

I am seriously disappointed and feel that this issue goes beyond me but is an issue between the app & the new Updated IOS platform that needs to be resolved. At this point I am just disgusted.

Thanks for your reply @iambmw, it's a pleasure to continue assisting you. Sorry for the delayed response.

I appreciate your effort troubleshooting this prior to posting and with me. Since the previous steps didn't work, please try the following ones:

  1. Restart your Charge 3.
  2. Please on the phone, go to Settings > Bluetooth, and remove all the connections that exist with the device. (Forget device, ignore or unpair depending on the version of the operating system of the phone).
  3. Turn off the Bluetooth and restart the phone. (Switch off and on again).
  4. When the iOS phone is back on, turn the Bluetooth on again but do not attempt to connect to the Fitbit from here.
  5. Go on the app and try setting up the Ionic as a new device.

Your feedback is appreciated, we are always striving to improve the Fitbit experience with our products and services.

Keep me posted.

I am assuming this will also work the same way with my IPad. That is where I want my Charge 3 to pair. As of this morning it’s still sitting in a drawer doing nothing.
