Hello all, I am wondering if anyone else has been running into issues with the food logging feature on the iOS app lately.
i have been using Fitbit to track my calories for 10 months now. It has been super helpful to me! I love the fact that it adjusts for my activity level each day.
But lately I’ve been having some trouble with it. The app tells me how many calories I have left, so I eat my dinner in accordance with what it recommends. Lately (ever since the new update, I think), I’ve noticed that the estimated number of calories left is a massive overestimate. It seems like the app is assuming that because I just walked home from work, I’ll continue walking around until midnight, and it gives me a calorie estimate on that basis. So I eat the number of calories it said I had left, close the app within my target, and the next day it tells me that I’ve gone over by a couple hundred calories.
I never had this issue in the past. I thought it based the number of calories remaining on my base metabolic rate, so that the number I saw was how many calories I had left if I did no activity for the rest of the day. Now the app is assuming my activity levels will stay consistent until midnight, and it’s much harder to meet my target unless I go way under. It’s a moving target, and lately it moves way too quickly.
Can anyone tell me if this was another update to the app? I have a Charge 2 and iOS. Thanks.

Hello and welcome @Yennnny
Your post was refreshing and perfectly written with good details. (makes it easier to help if we know as much information as possible to help you) With that said I believe I can help you. Let’s try this:
go to your online Dashboard and tap “log” at the top of the screen. Now look to the second tile down labeled “Food Plan”. In that tile you will notice a small blue wheel gear to the upper right of that tile. Tap that wheel gear and choice either “Personalized” or “Sedentary”. You can find information here to help you decide which one is best for you here: https://www.marketscreener.com/FITBIT-INC-22480411/news/Ask-Fitbit-Why-Does-My-Calorie-Allowance-Cha...
😃 pleas let me know if I provided you with the “best answer “ to your question. If so please tap the best answer under my post. It really helps others who come to this sight looking for answers to questions similar to yours. Keep me posted

Thank you, this did help!
I just wish Fitbit has notified us of this...
To anyone who uses Fitbit for food tracking, I recommend following the above instructions to choose “sedentary,” because otherwise the app will tend to overestimate the number of calories remaining.
Thanks again, @SunsetRunner!!
