Versa not connecting to Virgin Wifi

I am struggling to set up my Fitbit versa as I am unable to get it to connect to the wifi.  Has anyone got any suggestions.  It says I can't use it until I have updated it and I have spent the last 2 hours trying to set it up using the app on my iPhone.  Does anyone know any other way to update the versa, such as using a laptop.  I logged on to the laptop but can't see anything that suggests updating my Fitbit.  Losing the will at the moment.

Let me help you updating your Versa. What happens when you update your Versa? Is it stuck doing the update when you try with your phone? Try restarting it and then retry the update. Finally follow these instructions to troubleshoot your wi fi connection.
